From the June Solicits on CBR here's the third issue of Marvel Her-oes.

MARVEL HER-OES #3
Written by GRACE RANDOLPH
Pencilled by CRAIG ROUSSEAU
Cover by SARA PICHELLI

Teachers, parents, the "cool" clique--Janet Van Dyne has her own roster of villains, but how will she fair when she faces off with the real deal? Will her and Namora’s super powers be up to the challenge? It's all part of the sleepover from hell when Jenny Walters makes the ultimate sacrifice for her friends! It’s about time our her-oes start getting her-oic!!

Man, I really hope that super-villain turns out to someone new or at least an alien trying to kill her father. If there's one thing Jan really needs, it's her own roster of supervillains that she doesn't need to share with Hank. Neither Whirlwind nor Ultron consider her their actual opponent, she's just the object of their fixations.

(By the by, if the super-rich, pretty, fashionable girl isn't in the cool clique, who the heck is?)

But she's going out with Hank Pym, the biggest nerd in the universe.

She canonly dated Tony, until she found out he was Iron Man, and briefly hooked up with Hawkeye as well.

True enough.

He flirted with her multiple times during his off-periods from Bobbi or Natasha after she'd gotten divorced, but never did anything physical about it until Austen retconned him into hating Hank's guts.

No on the Hawkeye thing which came out of nowhere and was quickly forgotten (except as a plot point to make Wanda go nuts). I think it was written by Chuck Austen (surprise!) and it had both Janet and Hawkeye act like OOC sex-crazed douches (in the past Janet had expressly said she would not get with one of Hank's friends to which Hawkeye replies that he never liked Hank anyway and then they had sex - and were caught in the act by Hank who went and barfed). There was no relationship at all.

Tony at least was really interested in her and felt guilty afterwards for lying to her (a twist for him).

It was indeed Austen's, which makes... What, at least five on the "Forced-And-Shitty Love Triangles" list of his? I was just surprised that it was actually two men and a woman this time instead of the other way around, since he loves playing the "shrewish (or outright psycho) bitch" and "yearning delicate flower" trope all over the place.

The first issue's not even out yet, but apparently Namora's the school queen bitch (which confuses the hell out of me, because sure, she's got the attitude for it if need be, but if superpowers are a bad thing, as established in the solicit for issue one, wouldn't the half-fish-girl be at the bottom of the pecking order?).

perhaps the superpowers are a bad thing as in very inconvienient to the welder rather than kiss of death popularity wise.

I was hoping for bad-girl Namora on a motorcycle in a leather jacket, smoking cigarettes behind the gym. :(

Something very creepy about the babydoll faces they all seem to have, that's not high school looking, that's those ghastly child pageant things that parents should be shot rather than enter their child into.

Same here.

Trying to avoid the Dawson Casting effect is one thing but I think we've gone too far the other way here!

The word Her-o fills me with so much wrath I can't even tell you. (This wrath is not merely directed at Marvel, I've seen it elsewhere.)

Yeah, heroine shouldn't be such a hard word to learn. Heck, even druggies know how to use it.

Of just "hero" as a unisex term, the same way that some papers over here deliberately don't refer to actors and actresses, but just "actors" for all.

I'm all for using the unisex term, but it drives me crazy when they deliberately try to feminize a word when there's an extant word. Aaaaugh. I admit that I'm a complete pedant, however.

~Jenn closes locker~

"Hmmm..oh that's nice...."

"Jen are you day dreaming about Steve Rogers again!?"

"Hmmm...he's a dreamboat on a cuise with hunk island!"

~canned laughter, hoots~

~Peter Parker bursts in~

"Hey hey hey ladies, it's your friendly neighboorhood Spider-Man!"

~cheers from the audience, hoots~

"PETEY! You just ruined the best day dream ever!"

"Hey, don't be sore gals...It's ~turns to camera~ A BARAND NEW DAY! ~winks~

~crowd goes wild~

When I wake up in the morning,
and the 'larm gives out a warning,
I don't think I'll ever make it on time,
By the time i grab my books,
and i give myself a look,
I'm at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by,

It's alright 'cause I'm Saved by the Bell

Something about that title... "Her-Oes". I think it's too conducive to dirty one-liners. Plus, it shortens to Marvel HOs. I don't like that.

"how will she fair "

LOLwhut.

Also I gotta tell you guys, "Jenny" Walters is kind of giving me some brain pain. And it's not even that I can't read it without the Tommy Tutone starting up in my head; I just can't even reconcile how a character who would go by Jenny could possibly be a parallel version of the Jen I know and love. "Shulkie," sure, the diminutive nick fits her boisterous gamma-personality, but Jennifer Walters, Esquire just does not seem like she's ever been the type.

And it's just wrong to see She-Hulk without a rack. She's Marvel's equivalent to Power Girl in the "breasts as characterisation" department.

It bothers me more than she appears to be about the same height as Namora. She's frickin 6'7", people, and girls start their growth spurt usually around twelveish. If she's in high school, she should be at least six foot something. (I'm assuming that since her Shulkie!strength is exponentially related to her Jen!strength, her height should be also.)

At least, At least they didn't do what I was worried they'd do and name Marvel Heralds Her-Alds.

(Then again, maybe they wanted to and realized without the right font, it'd look like Her-Aids. Wait that wouldn't stop Marvel...)
