Please don't kill me for saying this and I loved the 80s "Spider Man and his Amazing Friends" cartoon as a kid...

But "Go for it!" is a pretty cheesy battle cry. =/

And I mean, compared to "Titans, together!", "Yo Joe!" (OK, OK, to be fair, this one doesn't make much sense either) or "Avengers Assemble!", it's really not that grand sounding when you yell it in battle.

Okay, first of all, Dystopian Punisher-esque Spidey is hilarious. Although Spidey would TOTALLY have snarky last words, gimme a break. I hope that's a fakeout.

Secondly, it's clear that Marvel and the various editorial/creative teams therein are big on pushing the Spidey+Wolverine relationship. They have a mini, they appear frequently in each other's books, they're always on the same Avengers team ... a lot going on with that friendship (and it is a friendship, if a very bizarre one) right now.

So when are we going to get some mileage out of the fact that Logan was once rescued by Peter's CIA parents? Heck, Logan was there when the Parkers found out Mary was pregnant. That kind of epic crack should not be allowed to languish in obscurity.

Except it probably will because people with spy parents aren't relatable and blah. But c'mon.

Did you miss the issue where it was established that Peter's parents were retconned away by BND and now the Trouble mini where Peter is May's son is canon?

I TOTALLY WANT THAT TO BE TRUE. Which would turn it into a beautiful situation for comedy/angst, actually. Wolvie isn't really the type to skip out on his obligations, but he had amnesia; now he remembers everything but it's hard for him to put all the memory fragments together*. So there's narrative drama on his side because he suddenly remembers this very important obligation he's completely failed at, and he's not sure whether Peter would even WANT that connection anymore. On the other hand, even rationally knowing it wasn't Logan's fault, and not even necessarily wanting a godfather, Peter would be feeling betrayed, both at the accidental abandonment and at Logan having taken so long to tell him after he remembers. And also, they respect each other but also get on each other's nerves, so watching them fumble for some kind of pseudo-familial relationship would be highly entertaining.

Adam Troy-Castro did actually have a "Peter finds out Wolverine was there" scene late in his Sinister Six novel trilogy. It was pretty funny and I wish it were canon.

*I could be wrong about this because I don't read Wolverine. This is what my avowed Wolvie fanboy brother says, though.

There's literally worlds of potential there if a writer only cared enough to see it! It really doesn't seem like much to ask when they're already pushing it as an Amazing Friendship!

unless they're just doing it because the two have history of being the MU's most overexposed characters of the past, but if that were the case then they (fortunately!) left out Deadpool

I'm pretty sure that's why they're doing it, alas. That, or because someone felt they needed a Marvel answer to the World's Finest. But come on, Batman and Superman have had lots of development as a pair; so can Pete and Logan!

(And on an entirely different, it's actually pretty interesting to look at the Big Two and Big Three of each company. On the DC side, that's Batman/Superman and Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman. On the Marvel side, it's Spider-Man/Wolverine and Captain America/Thor/Iron Man, though neither group is as important to the fabric of the MU as the World's Finest and Trinity (they even have their own group titles!) are to the fabric of DC.)
