Mod Post! Off-Topic Tuesday

In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

To start with happier news, the group of schoolboys and their football coach who were though lost in a flooded cave system have been found alive and safe. They are still trapped, and might be there for some months due to the continued flooding, but now they know where they are, authorities can get food to them, and intend to teach them to scuba dive, so they can be brought to safety more quickly. I was so sure that this was going to end sadly, but this is an amazing!

"Sportsball of the foot", and "sportsball of the stick with wires" are both now in full swing with the World Cup and Wimbledon co-inciding.

The UK is going through an extraordinary heatwave which looks set to last for the rest of the week.

As regards Brexit, well, the sack of rabid weasels we all a government here in the UK is well, pretty much acting like a sackful of rabid weasels might be expected to.

Those in the EU might want to try a little last minute lobbying of their MEP to try and prevent the implementation of the deeply controversial and worrying Article 13, which will have serious repercussions on sharing ANY sort of fan content on the Internet,

A Supreme Court Judge (A Republican appointed, right leaning, but seemingly quite keen on the concept of human right) unexepcted announced his retirement, and the fact that his son works for the only bank which will give loans to Donald Trump is, I am sure, ENTIRELY coincidental.

I did check for some more US news, but frankly it was the news equivlaent of a large scale tyre fire, so you can dig your own stuff out on it as you see fit.

I will note though, that if you're in the US and of voting age, to make sure you're registered to vote in the upcoming elections as new laws are being brought in some areasd to remove people from the register.

The new Overwatch character announcement appears to be a wesponised version of Rhino from the movie Bolt. Wrecking Ball, is actually Hammond the Hamster in a heavily armed hamster-ball, and frankly, what else do you need to know? :)

And we have a few bits of Doctor Who news;

A few minutes of clips of Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Docotr have leaked, showing her meeting two of her new companions (whilst only just regenerated and slightly confused so probably from the first episode) as well as a couple of still images featuring the new sonic screwdriver (Which looks weird, but GORGEOUS!). The BBC, who have been controlling ALL info about the new season completely are more than slightly miffed at this, and are going to court to try and identify who did the leaking. On the plus side, response to the leak has been almost universally positive, which is nice.

The new series composer has been announced as Seguna Akinola who takes over from Murray Gold after 13 years and who will be creating a new arrangement of the theme tune.

And Jodie Whittaker, at least two companioons, and Chris Chibnall will be in attendance at the San Diego Comic Con for the formal launch of the new season, so that should be fun!

Chronos turned up recently in JLA.

The JLA followed him through time, back to the coming of Ahl, God of Super-Heroes.

They found Ahl at Chronos' mercy.

They grabbed him and fell back to what would be Mount Justice in the future.

The Ray threw up a castle of light.
