In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

There are escalating tensions in the Straits of Hormuz, and the US has boosted it's military presence there as Iran and the US seem to be heading towards SOMETHING unpleasant.

The BBC recently toured China's controversial "Thought Transformation Camps" which is as disturbingly sinister a euphemism as it sounds, where up to a million Muslims are incarcerated, and did some more exploration into what was really going on.

In Italy (Venice to be exact), Elena and Elisabetta Tramontin are looking to break old traditions by maintaining their family's gondola business of 135 years, despite that usually being the domain of men only.

The leadership battle for Tory party leader continues, with the front runner Boris Johnson taking the unusual route of not giving any interviews or public appearance, still less the TV debate the other contender took part in. Given his ability to offend pretty much anyone with fatuous gaffes, this is perhaps a wise, if simultaneously rcowardly and eprehensible, approach.

Dominic Raab, one of the front runners has come under fire for supporting one of POTUS 45's more virulent tweets which formed part of the bizarre ongoing "battle" between Trump and Sadiq Kahn, London's mayor.

Speaking of pointless battles between vaguely recognisable life forms, Pokemon Sword and Shield (set in the Galar Region, which I'd put good money on having every cod-British cliche in the book, and I'm already wincing at the likely accents in the anime) has already confirmed Wooloo, a sheep based Pokemon and has also revealed there will be a Corgi Pokemon named Yamper and some sort of imp creature named Impidimp.

In sportsball news, the Toronto Raptors won the NBA, the first Canadian team to ever do so, and a parade of about 2 million people thronged the streets to celebrate.

Britain's ITV has banned all-male writing teams for comedy shows.

Just got around to watching "How to Train Your Dragon 3", and whilst the villain of the piece is pretty much a non-entity (especially compared to the likes of Viggo and Ryker in the TV series), and acknowledging the disappointing choice to give the Light Fury a softer, more stereotypically "feminine" looking design, as a movie it managed to hit the right emotional beats for me (With Hiccup withdrawing his hand from Toothless' snout for the last time being a real tear-jerker of a moment)

Oh, and how have I not managed to listen to a Janelle Monae CD before? I mean I knew she was a singer and something of a style icon but her voice is glorious!

"My Pepe philosophy is simple: 'Feels good man.' It is based on the meaning of the word Pepe: 'To go Pepe'. I find complete joy in physically, emotionally, and spiritually serving Pepe and his friends through comics. Each comic is sacred, and the compassion of my readers transcends any differences, the pain, and fear of 'feeling good'." -- Matt Furie
