The annual "Up Helly Aa" fire festival in Lerwick in the Shetland Islands, is permitting women to join in the main march for the first time in it's 142 year history.Over on tumblr, Sunday was "Threshold Day", a day to celebrate the now 26 year old episode of Star Trek Voyager which featured the lizard-y love of a Starfleet Captain and her helmsman both mutated by Warp Drive forces into salamanders (They got better) who then had baby salamanders together on an alien world (they did not get better and were just left to fend for themselves).
Generally held to be one of THE worst Trek episodes ever, and was pretty much disavowed by the producers, though Star Trek: Prodigy has re-canonised it. It was fun to see fans, if not rehabilitate it's reputation, revel in it anyway. (
Plus it's hard to TOTALLY dislike an episode which generates fanart like this.
The Doctor Who Season BluRay Collection has produced another brilliant trailer,
