I read a bunch of true crime books and of course I came across the Lindbergh baby. I read a bunch about that; I was like, "Oh this is such a Gotham City story." Because that is a really fucked up story, the Lindbergh kidnapping. It's like 90% soft and 10% not. The good guys in the story are Lindbergh and Lindbergh turns out to be just the most horrible person of all time. He was a pseudo Nazi! Plus, he had two secret families. Not to panic anyone unduly, but after the UFO shaped cloud in Turkey (Well, that's what the polite media called it, the more honest media had a more prosaic description of it), and a rare mother-of-pearl cloud in Scotland, we now have a whirlpool over Hawaii.

The annual "Up Helly Aa" fire festival in Lerwick in the Shetland Islands, is permitting women to join in the main march for the first time in it's 142 year history.

Over on tumblr, Sunday was "Threshold Day", a day to celebrate the now 26 year old episode of Star Trek Voyager which featured the lizard-y love of a Starfleet Captain and her helmsman both mutated by Warp Drive forces into salamanders (They got better) who then had baby salamanders together on an alien world (they did not get better and were just left to fend for themselves).

Generally held to be one of THE worst Trek episodes ever, and was pretty much disavowed by the producers, though Star Trek: Prodigy has re-canonised it. It was fun to see fans, if not rehabilitate it's reputation, revel in it anyway. (Plus it's hard to TOTALLY dislike an episode which generates fanart like this.

The Doctor Who Season BluRay Collection has produced another brilliant trailer, in this case for Season 9 which got me surprisngly emotional at more than one point.

James Gunn and Peter Safran have made public the next set of DC tv and moviemedia., under the blanket title:

Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters

“Here at DC, we have Metropolis, Gotham, Themyscira, Atlantis, Bialya… This is the world that we’re creating,” Gunn shares. “We’re coming into a world where superheroes exist and have existed for some time in one form or another, and that’s the universe. We are telling a big, huge central story that is like Marvel, except that I think we’re a lot more planned out than Marvel from the beginning because we’ve gotten a group of writers together to work the story out completely.”

That's... a VERY bold statement to make, but good luck to them!
