In which Thor shows Peter how it's done.

In Thor, Thor and Tyr go to NuHel to rescue help Hela defeat the Disir, who are out to consume the souls of Asgard's dead.  They need to retrieve a magic sword that the Disir have stolen, so Thor volunteers to do that while Tyr helps defend Hel.  The Disir take the sword into Mephisto's realm, hoping to hide in there.




Hela opens a portal for Thor into Mephisto's realm, but he is intercepted:




"...I give you Hell."

Over in Fantastic Four, Hickman follows up on the appearance of Future!Franklin a few issues ago:  he's working with Future!Valeria and their time-travelling grandfather, Nathaniel Richards, on some big project.  Val goes to talk to Sue in the present, while Nathaniel travels back to Reed's college days to enlist his help on something.  We first see Reed in ethics class, where, as you can imagine, Victor takes a different approach to "what defines what is right?" than Reed.



Hickman ties this into the events of his SHIELD ongoing, where Nathaniel Richards appeared and vanished in an energy explosion when the Night Machine blew up.  The weird cosmic boom sent him into the future, and drew every Nathaniel Richards from every reality to the same spot.  Immortus appeared and decided to resolve the situation by saying that one of them may live, so they have to kill each other until there's one left standing.  Our Nathaniel is now one of only two left, having refused to take part, but the other one is now coming after him.  So he asks Reed (and Ben, who's also there) to help.  Reed thinks they'll need some gadgets.

For some reason, the image of Mephisto using chopsticks makes me LOL. (I'd think he'd be more of a knife and fork guy.)

And while the idea of Doom lunching with Openheimer (and sifting through his mind), that does naughty things to the timeline. Not that that's ever stopped Marvel before. (It's one of my pet peeves.)

Marvel Marvel Marvel please please go ahead and do a universal reboot. The FF timeline is getting stretched way too much. Oppenheimer died in 67 that would make Victor & Reed at the youngest pushing 60.
