Max Damages is lying helpless, bleeding to death in a hospital, but he's saved by someone wearing ex-sidekick (as of last issue) Jailbait's costume. It turns out to be Annie, the girl he met a while back.

She makes him promise to always protect her before administering. Kind of selfish if you think about it, making it all about her, but a little selfishness can be forgiven considering the circumstances, I think.
The two bust out of the hospital, then bring down the local branch of the Diamond Gang, the white supremacists who killed Annie's family. While smashing up their base, they find a troubling book.

Date: 2010-07-30 09:47 pm (UTC)Where the story of the Plutonian is about a man becoming the ultimate villain, this story about Max is about him becoming a true hero. It is the Dichotomy of the stories that really get to me. And I see that there must be a reckoning between the two of them at some point.

Date: 2010-10-15 03:52 am (UTC)I have to wonder, though - if Max Damage is now a hero, shouldn't his sidekick switch names? 'Jailbait' is fine when you're a villain, but it's a tad iffy when you're a hero.
Also, judging by the cover, I'm guessing there's a scene where the two Jailbaits get in a fight. Am I correct in this?
