After doing a considerable amount of lurking, I finally found the necessary time to set up an account. I must say that the encouragement first came from icon_uk and when you`re feeling a bit lost about what to do next, every little helps! So thank you, icon!

A couple of words about me...I`m a gal from a corner of the world that doesn`t receive comics, but who was born with a deep love and respect for the medium. So praise to the maker for online shopping and worldwide delivery. And if that`s not enough, I also hope to write and illustrate some of my own ideas. Right now I`m only an aspiring artist (you can check some of my stuff over at http://nifty-d.deviantart.com/), but I would like to turn it into something more.

So, that`s that about me. Now, onto something that caught my eye during my routine morning websurfing...





This is also followed by an 'interview' between JT Krul and the Teen Titans over at
The Source It struck me as a bit cheesy, so I didn`t post it.

I`m quite nervous about this. I like the idea of Teen Titans, but the title hasn`t gotten lucky in a while. I`m guessing this should be the big revitalizing experience. Oh well, there`s Damian!

Oh, and as for the interview in the link, I think Gar might find himself taken more seriously if he stopped using the name "Beast Boy" when he's now in his 20's. Changeling is a perfectly decent name, less age related, and the cartoon is long ago enough now for it not to be needed as a link.

Regarding the encouragement, you once told me to try even though I don`t have time. And since not having time is kinda my M.O. these days, I eventually though "Oh, what the heck? I`ll join!"

I do like Changeling more :D I like superhero names that don`t end up in "boy/girl..man..lad etc"..they seem more original.

And seeing as how I am a bit rusty, what do you mean by "the cartoon is long ago enough now for it not to be needed as a link." ^^"

Whilst he did IIRC resume using the Beast Boy name for no fathomable reason in his 2000 mini-series, one has to ponder why they continued to have a guy in his 20's resume using in 2003 (and then continue to cling to) a name he'd dumped as being too juvenile when he was 16. The fact it was decent cross marketing with the then just starting out cartoon probably explains a lot.

(Oh right, I understand. I`m kinda sleep deprived right now XD I thought it was something to do with my tags, which are apparently messed up and unfortunately I cannot see why/how)

Maybe Gar was feeling melancholic...maybe it`s his online name and he was looking for more recognition. Or maybe he`s still a boy at heart. In his 30s he`ll eventually move on to 'Beast Man'. And when he gets married he`ll be addressed to as "Mr. Beast".

Yeah, the cartoon would have to have been the reason for the name switch. Though, if they were going to adjust anything in the comics to make it more like the cartoon, I'd have preferred it to have been the characterization of Raven.

The name switch was long before the cartoon.

I suspect that it happened due to "legal reasons". While Gar was in limbo, some company came up with a game called "Changeling: the Dreaming". Rather than go through the legal wranglings of regaining the name, DC most likely decided to relinquish it.

They could have done better though.

I think he'd be taken more seriously if he'd stop following Raven around like a puppy dog and stop obsessing over her all the time.

My theory:

This started after Gar "rescued her" during the Brother Blood Jr. stuff. I suspect that Raven had a bit of "infatuation" at that point and her powers subconsciously manipulated Gar's feelings... eventually leaving him acting like a lovelorn lapdog.

Or, when Gar was temporarily with the DP, the Chief did something that lobotomized Gar :p

For awhile, I've also theorized(and hoped) that Gar/Raven might be another Dick/Raven in terms of Raven's powers accidentally manipulationg someone. Now, more than ever I hope it's true with how Gar's been written lately when it comes to Raven. And I don't just mean Henderson's whiny stalker crap (but that sure is a big part)

Hell, one of the reasons I can't stand Gar/Raven is it seems to make both characters really unlikable.
