The most recent Fantastic Four has been catching up lots of old plot threads - the message from the future man, the presence of the City of the High Evolutionary on American soil, Valeria Richards the super-genius and, the stars of Solve Everything, the Council

Valeria activated the Bridge and went back to the Council, under attack from both the lobotomised Dooms from the Hole and the Celestials who were attacking it in Solve Everything. She leads some of the Reeds back to safety, I think in 616, though two of them die along the way.

I do like the way that they're doing dialogue here. Perhaps this scene will be explained and expanded on later, but I just thought that it was a different touch and welcome.
Where do the red spots on the map point to?
I'm glad to see these guys back, but a more important question is where will they appear next?

What did everybody else make of this? iFanboy's Pick of the week podcast liked it and the way that it brought out Valeria.

At a guess...

Possibly the five 'new' mutants from the X-Men/Hope thing?

Wrong locations.

One's North America. Another is off the Pacific coast of South America, the South America mutant is in Mexico City. Another is Europe. The fourth is in Libya/Algeria, the African mutant is in Nigeria. The last is in Mozambique.

Possibly Ladvaria and Wakanda? Maybe the locations of the Four Cities when they all arrive on the surface of the earth?

Maybe. One of them might be Genosha.

Well, the Moleoid city's already on the surface of the Earth, and I'm pretty sure the Inhumans one was on the surface of the moon, and another in the Negative Zone.

I look at the panel with the exclamation mark and question mark and all I could think was this:

MGS Alert Sound

I think at this point with a few filler issues excluded you sum up Hickman's entire FF run as "The Adventures of Reed and Valeria Richards...and some other less important not-so-smart people".

No problem. Just an observation. At this rate, if they added in a little more Franklin, it would probably be my favorite Marvel book.

There's a fair amount of Franklin. He's even had what amounted to a solo issue.

Comics need more "Adventures of People Smarter Than You" books. I am so over the number of "Wacky Hijinks of Laughably Relateable [deleted not to piss of kingrockwell]" books we have now.

I could definately go for that, though most writers like to have smart people real manipulative bastards.

As any experienced gamer knows, only really smart people can handle really smart people well. That said, I don't see where Hickman's made any real glaring errors in his handling of smart people. Reed is a super-genius who tends to get to wrapped up in his work. He's also a loving husband and family man who turned his back on the Council and turned his house into a homeschool for homeless children from around the MU world. I don't see how that equates with a manipulative bastard.

and he was supposed to be the guy who switched away from that.

I'm actually not a big fan of Reed as world changing inventor. I prefer the more common characterization of science obsessed guy who invents whatever he thinks of.

Agreed.

...i'm not saying it CAN'T POSSIBLY be good, but like... I sure wasn't losing any sleep at night asking myself "oh gosh when are they going to revisit the Council of Richardses, that would be SO GOOD!?!?!?!"

I think it will be interesting to see them in contrast to our Reed Richards, now that we know how they are broken.

oh, dear god. Have they actually declared that someone's going to die? I can just see Reed heading off to the council of Reeds leaving his family behind.
