More signs that the writers and artists at DC love us. Or at least Kevin Smith reads this. (Hi Kevin!).
DCUBlog has two pages of the Wydening gyre preview made juuuust for us.

Aww hell, all three pages. They cannot be denied.

That's not sea water on the sides of Aquaman's mouth...

'Companion' indeed....

Arthur, what exactly is "our world"?
And Bruce, you need to give him the Bat-stare, not the "lady doth protest too much" glare.

*sniff* Arthur, are you wearing ambergris?

Ok artists remember Batman doesn't have scars. It simply makes no sense to draw him like he's recently been whipped. Unless....

Artists have shown Bruce with various levels of scarring for years. Which, IMO, makes sense, as he lacks a healing factor, and rarely takes time to properly tend his injuries or give himself enough time to heal fully before going out again (and is probably too proud/stubborn to use an Amazonian Purple Ray or other JLU healing tech).

I see your POV, but at the same time as meticulous as he is about maintaining that playboy image, keeping all those scars from past fights could be a something he may want to avoid since his civilian id is in the public eye.
But no matter who the artist is , I still kinda feel its overkill.
Especially since his suit is supposed to be somewhat protective. Then again as much as Bruce has been through. Those scars tell his journey.

I liked the suggestion in Lex Luthor: Man of Steel that everyone thinks Bruce Wayne is secretly into BDSM, thus the bruises he's always trying to cover up.

Well, concerning the playboy image...three things come to mind:

1. It's possible he might have some sort of make-up on the worse scars.
2. In the past he's always been giving excuses that basically chalk it up to rich man eccentricism.
3. I'd imagine a majority of the women he's courted might not have even seen him in his skivvies like that, let alone slept with him.

I chalk it up to the Batman Begins explaination - Bruce Wayne is into living XTREEEM and spelunks and skydives and shit.

As someone whose body has many scars/blemishes (back, shoulders, upper arms and collarbone, but mine are from body acne), I personally like the scarring as it's one more way I can identify with Bruce's character. However, I can understand how it would be considered unattractive or not aesthetic.

Nah--he was seeing Silver at that point in the story, not Selina...

Pretty sure it's been posted here before too. I recall many swooning over "scar porn."

It's done much better here then above.

I like how the cape and cowl seem to be looking at him and they're seperate for now.

There is something about Alex Ross's art. His models look muscular, but with a layer of fat or something. They have a lumberjack build/50's strongman build (which makes sense given the ages of his characters and his era, the Gold/Silver age). It is just so different from what the modern ideal is ya know?
