Ah the world of art collecting, there's so much to see, know and so many fun people to interact with. I started at the tail end of 2008 and has spiraled slowly out of control since.

As it's the end of the year I thought I'd post some of my favorite pieces of the year to show off my shiny art.

Not all art I have is gotten at conventions, some occur through the wonder of the Internet and even ebay! This piece may be familar to some folks as I teased it some time back when it was in the sketch phase. The artist o is named Greg Woronchak and his style is pretty far reaching.

The piece had 4 Super females fighting the villainous Lord Xenon. Cir-El, Powergirl, Superwoman and Linda Danvers were my Supergirls of choice with Linda being as she appeared in Reign in Hell and Superwoman being Kristin Wells of Miracle Monday fame.

My next commission is from an artist SD knows through icon_uk's fun pieces, Mitch Ballard. I decided myself to get one and asked for Tomorrow Woman and Hourman having a romantic moment on his time and space traveling ship.

The detail in the piece is pretty breathtaking.

And while I hopefully don't bore some folks I do tend to get a lot of Tomorrow Woman art so you've been warned.

Here's one I received just a month or so ago by artist Dave/David Hoover of Tomorrow Woman.

DEM LEGS. Dave always draws the ladies very prettily so I was overjoyed with how it came out.

Before I get to my convention sketches here are a sample of the original art I received during 2010. My bank mourns my losses.

One very "big" or important piece I received this year was a cover of John Cassaday's for the current Superman storyline: Grounded. I received it as part of a reard package for donating generously towards the funding of The Periodic Table of Awesome, a show that'll aim at showing all sorts of geekity that some delightful folks from Australia are doing their best to make a pilot of to get picked up by a network.

Somewhat amusingly the issue was meant to be 705 but due to delays the cover was used for issue #706.

I also received a few interior pages from Kevin Maguire's Velocity: Pilot Season one shot.

His expression never fail to amuse. Oh and hey, pick up Velocity's current mini right now, it's pretty fun!

As some may know I'm also a big fan of Adam, The Blue Marvel, a new power house character that I think is all kinds of awesome. He recently had a short 8 page story in Age of Heroes #3 by artist MC Wyman and I managed to snag the whole set of pages for a great price, making me a happy Blue Marvel fan and here's a page of him doing good deeds across the globe.

Stephanie Brown is an SD favorite and one piece I really wanted was of her "return" as shown in Gotham Underground #5 by Jim Calfiore and Jack Purcell.

Though it's interesting to point out that this "return" originally made it seem like Penguin was making a new Spoiler of his own rather than it being Steph, who at the time was apparently dead. This hasn't been really straightened out since but was an awesome moment in the run.

And I'm sure many of you saw my previous Team Titans posts. Welllll, I managed to get a piece of Titan history regarding them, with their first out of shadows/foreshadowing appearance as a group, art by Paris Cullins and Al Vey from The New Titans #79.

Finally perhaps one of my favorite scores was pages from Tomorrow Womans Girlfrenzy! one shot drawn by Yanick Paquette and Mark Lipka. I hope to some day "complete" the issue, though I'm not exactly holding out for it. It's pretty epic having the pages too given the one shot was Yanick's first DC work and he's a fairly big name now.

And now to end the post are some of my favorite con sketches of the year.

Giant Girl is one of new favorite characters in Marvel, what she's not in MA anymore? LIES.

I had Steve Scott do a quick head sketch of her as he's drawn her in a fillin during the original Marvel Adventures run before its re-launch.

I've gotten two sketches by Guy Dorian before this and the third is awesome too. I've had him draw the E-16 Chris Kent and Adam, the Blue Marvel before, this time I had him tackle Triumph.

Love the shine he put on his armor plate.

Chris Giarrusso, artist of the Mini Marvels and G-Man hardly needs any introduction. I had him draw Tomorrow Woman before (see also my usual icon) and this time decided to have him have a go at Blue Marvel.

He amusingly came out looking a bit like Ultraman Tiga. XD

I've wanted a Miss Martian sketch for a while and had the duo of Joe Haley and TJ Dort a duo who create a personal project known as the Underburbs.

Adam Withers is an awesome fellow and his art is outstanding. If you've ever seen him on deviantart you'd be amazed at the stuff he puts out. I had him do a Tomorrow Woman piece to see how he'd do it, which came out gorgeously.

The next awesome piece is by James Kenneth Woodward of Fallen Angel fame. He has a thing for characters with wings and so I decided to have him tackle another sort of Fallen Angel, Zauriel.

And finally as I'm a big fan of the Cir-El Supergirl and I've seen Chris Moreno put out some amazingly cute and funny stuff I had him draw Cir-El.

I can't get over how cute this piece is, especially her hand movements.

Hope you all liked and here's to a great 2011!

And for legality

And since I opened with Supergirls lets close with some as well.

You have some excellent pieces there, and a couple of commission artists whose names I wasn't aware of, but which I WILL remember! :)

I'm curious, why Tomorrow Woman?

To clarify, I'm not knocking your enjoyment of her or saying it's silly, just that I'm curious where it comes from. There seem to be a number of serious Tomorrow Woman fans out there, more than I'd expect for a character I remember as a one-shot from 15 years ago, who was in a cool storyline in Morrison's JLA run and died at the end of it.

I guess I'm asking what about her appeals to you so much? What don't I know about the character? :)

She returned in the Trinity series, and is now alive and well in the DCU as a real organic person rather than an android.

Wow, these are some really awesome pieces of art you have here! Out of curiosity who is Tomorrow Woman* and what should I read to find out more? These pieces of art have literally made me more interested in reading about here. (The fact that she looks pretty hot in some of these doesn't hurt either)

*Yeah, I know I should wiki, but experience has told me wiki pages on comic book characters tend to be either more confusing than not and/or extremely out of date

Hey, have you ever read the Triumph mini-series? I've been wondering if I should try to track it down. The character seems interesting from what I know of him, but I hear that even the writer of the mini-series thinks it's awful.

Also, I don't get why he's so hated. In the appearances I've read, he doesn't seem worse than all the other rebel-type characters who are on super-teams.
