I appreciate stuff like this because it's so INFORMAL. I think a lot of people tend to go 'yeah, yeah, whatever' about this sort of thing because they feel they're being PREACHED to. Something that lays out the basics in simple, conversational language that you can understand is for more effective than the other kind, because it doesn't sound like a lecture, it sounds like you've actually asked someone about the subject, and they've obliged you by telling you about it. I read something Roald Dahl wrote for the London Underground that was something similar to this - not to do with condoms, of course; it involved train safety. He basically said, 'look, I understand all this stuff sounds boring when it comes from your parents or teachers, but seriously, nasty stuff could happen if you don't watch out, so here are a few pointers to help you do so.' (Of course, it helped that he was Roald Dahl - I mean, if Roald Dahl told you not to do a thing, would you really have the nerve to do it?)
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
