On a previous post this past week I put up some beef cake that seemed to have the best word-of-mouth in the Hollywood community of portraying Clark Kent/Superman in film.
Looks like I was wrong, and the rumors untrue. And I am willing to admit it.
The man has been cast.
The HONOR and the TITLE of being The Last Son of Krypton, the Man of Steel, the Man of Tomorrow, the greatest hero of the DC pantheon goes to....
Henry Cavill, last seen by many on the Tudors.
The actor was almost Batman, almost Green Lantern, almost Bond... but he gets another iconic character instead.

He's got the acting chops, but by Krypton he has got to get into shape.
And for legality,

Mr. Kent is not a complete stick-in-the-mud.

Lois' casting is just as important as Superman/Clark's. In my opinion one of the biggest flaws of Superman Returns was Kate Bosworth's utterly blah Lois Lane. And, you know, the whole deadbeat dad thing. My current favorite is Rashida Jones; I think she can pull off the sublimely intelligent, vibrant Lois that is equal to Superman.
Also I never expected to ever see the phrase "shake your bootie" in connection with Clark. Wow.

Date: 2011-01-31 08:18 am (UTC)I liked Rashida Jones on The Office, and I guess I could see her as Lois. I'm not sure she'd be my first choice though.
I think Natalie Portman could make an excellent Lois. She has the acting chops and she has the knack for portraying intelligent, thoughtful characters, which I think is key for someone playing Lois Lane.

My personal favourite would probably be Maggie Gyllenhaal, but I guess getting blown up by the Joker kind of throws you out of the race.

Date: 2011-01-31 08:25 am (UTC)This strikes me as a good choice. I thought he was quite good on The Tudors, and he has the right look for the part. He's 6' 1'', though, according to imdb, when Clark is supposed to be about 6' 3'' or 6' 4". That's may not sound like such a big deal, but it's the difference between a man who is tall in an ordinary way and a man who is usually the tallest one in the room.

Date: 2011-01-31 06:32 pm (UTC)I mean you want an actor in decent shape cause the audience has to watch him in spandex for an entire movie, but Superman doesn't particularly have to be a bodybuilder. It's not like either Reeves especially was.
