On a tangent... I looked back at my posts from last year about my dread and (I'll be honest) genuine putrid hate I had for the director and the film, and you know, I feel justified. But I am willing to move on.

I hope the upcoming comic books and new series redeems the name and regains the honor of the character and talent behind this beloved project. Glad to hear around the Nick production circles that a lot of talent are genuinely happy to play in this sand box one more time.

I know next to nothing about Avatar, but this seems cute.

Take the time and make the investment and effort. one of the hands down BEST stories put together and genuine characters in the past decade, and best animated series ever! It starts off slow, but builds up to a rich and diverse world, and plenty of HOLY CRAP! moments.

It's kind of sad that I'm overjoyed just because Korra looks physically powerful.

It should be a given that a trained warrior who regularly engages in violent physical combat is muscular and well-built. It should be.

But instead the vast majority of fiction portrays amazons as skinny. Ladies who are able to throw big men around, yet look like they have never done a push-up in their life. At least sometimes this is justified because the women in question has got superstrength, but more often than not she is supposed to be a Badass Normal. What gives?

So. I don't know whether Korra will be a good show or not, but now I know that it will at least look good :)

I recall the moment my love in Avatar and its ladies was truly cemented: when I was poking around some design material, and they'd taken the time to point to Toph as specifically stockier than Aang. I mean, I can think of very, very few shows that would do that. Korra continuing that trend of shock, gasp, actual logic makes me feel so awesome.

New title?

According to the article, the new series will be titled "The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra" and not "Avatar; tLoK." Which makes - absolutely no sense, as that title referred to Aang, who is, by the current series, long dead, and there are at least two Airbenders in the world now (technically, counting Korra).

...they aren't trying to tie into the movie, are they? Are they!? That would be so very stupid on so many levels.

Probably nothing more then a callback for marketing reasons. It's a stupid title, but hopefully it'll be the worst thing we have to worry about.

If there was one major flaw in the first Avatar series it was a lack of characters rollin' up to people and punching them right in the goddamn face, no joke.

I'm taking those shoulders as a promise that this error will be addressed.
