Isn't Pixie English? I'm pretty sure I've very rarely heard anyone over here call it anything other than 'the buttons', not 'the remote'. Except of course my housemates, but they're all idiots.

(Not to imply anything. 'Remote' is a perfectly good alternative. I'm just mentioning my housemates are idiots for the sake of mentioning it. They really are.)

She's Welsh. Have to say, I'm Scottish (living in various parts of England for many years) and I've never heard a remote control referred to as "the buttons", it's usually just "the remote" in my experience.
