I think her poncho is constructed from her powers, so wouldn't interfere like normal fabric would.

If they're going for an Indian/South Asian top, there's better examples to choose from for a flier.

There's the crossover blouse:



There's the Burmese jacket or the Indian choli:



Or the tailored kurta:



All of those would look appropriate but be better suited to a superhero lifestyle.

They want the poncho for the floaty effect and few superheroes dress purely for practicality.

Whilst those are nice designs, her tunic and leggings are already based on traditional Indian designs, and I don't see these as being that much more suited to the superhero lifestyle. The tunic and top allow maximum flexibility, a degree of modesty and a unique look for a heroine.

Plus Psionic Lad is from the distant future, and Solstice isn't psionic, so not sure what the link could be

We don't know too much about her yet, her parents are archaeologists, and she travels with them a lot, so it may be some ancient mystical thingie.
