scans_dailyI meant to post these pages back in December, then completely forgot about it.
When Hellboy temporarily joins the pets of Burden Hill, the one most vocally against his presence is, of course, Pugs.
But besides his hatred of the supernatural, Pugs has another problem going for him, mentioned by the other dogs. His humans have just gotten a new puppy, and there's the potential the new dog on the block might end up being his replacement in his family. So he's an even more surly, bitey little cuss than usual.
Which makes the last two pages after Hellboy wins his respect all the more heartbreaking.
;^; Puuuuuugs. And Orphan, one of those he's argued with the most, being the most worried about him. The saddest faces.

Date: 2011-05-28 06:11 am (UTC)I'm really interested in Beasts of Burden - it seems like a very atypical animal-centric series. Haven't seen any of my local comic stores carrying it, though - might have to put it on a pull list.

Date: 2011-05-28 06:13 am (UTC)It's not an ongoing series, which is probably why you couldn't find it. The first eight stories (four from anthologies, and a miniseries) are available in a very nice trade, though, and this was a standalone issue.
HOWEVER. The Burden Hill pets are going to be getting new oneshot stories starting this September, so sayeth Mr. Dorkin and Ms. Thompson. I can't remember if they're going to be in anthologies again or not.
