When Osiris and Isis only appeared in one page of #35, I decide to wait until #36 to make my post, but they didn't show up at all. Oh well.
Previously, Osiris saw that Khandaq was being attacked by Quraci forces, but he couldn't do anything about it since he was dealing with Isis. Now that she's back to normal...

And, in #36, the Titans have just dealt with Drago.

Date: 2011-06-10 06:28 pm (UTC)Hasn't he been routinely beating up on Dick and Donna for the entire 31 years he's existed? I can't complain about him being able to take on teams because it's like complaining about Dr. Doom, Magneto, ot Thanos being able to do it. It's what he was created for.
Supergirl is the one he shouldn't stand a chance against, just following history. The one person I can remember trouncing Slade one on one was Wonder Woman. That's the level it was established decades ago that you had to be on.
Kara is on Diana's level, therefore Slade should lose.

Date: 2011-06-11 12:00 am (UTC)Clubbing Diana with Kyle wouldn't take her out. :)

Date: 2011-06-10 10:24 pm (UTC)yeah, but Thanos and Magneto are take-on-whole-armies powerful and Dr. Doom is Batman-level crazy prepared (which seems to include his as-strong-as-the-writers-need-it-to-be armor). Slade is just a really tough guy with a healing factor. By any real logic, he shouldn't have won as many fights against the Titans as he has.

Date: 2011-06-10 11:46 pm (UTC)There's the healing factor, super strength (Everyone forgets that one), slight super speed (Not Flash level, but faster than a normal human), super fast reflexes and reaction time, the ability to use 90% of his brain, the fighting and weapons expertise, and he's supposed to be a tactical genius.
If these had been relatively new dvelopments, I'd agree with the complaints, but he's been that since he was introduced. It's like complaining that Lex Luthor is too much of a genius, or the Joker is an insane criminal. He was created specifically to fight entire super teams, to be the Titans' Dr. Doom without being a Doom knock-off. Personally, I think it's to Wolfman's and Perez's credit that they came up with such a unique take on the concept of a super team's arch foe. Any issues with him winning those fights with the Titans... Well, you'd need a time machine to hop back to 1980 and take it up with Wolfman and Perez.
That said, Supergirl should have no problem with him. But then, she shouldn't have had a problem with Cassandra Cain, either.

WHHYYY?!
Date: 2011-06-10 06:02 am (UTC)This reboot can't come fast enough to which I really hope it brings back Lian and erases Cry for Justice out of continuity because that is bullshit! In fact, the idea that someone at DC decides that Roy should just be known as the drug addict and he should be on drugs again after fighting to redeem himself already is plain fucking bullshit and it's storytelling like this that pisses me off.
Re: WHHYYY?!
Date: 2011-06-10 06:12 am (UTC)I can't be a fan of Roy anymore.
It's just ridiculous what they've done to him. It's almost like they've made him a "comedic" character.

Date: 2011-06-10 05:32 pm (UTC)Don't bet on CfJ being undone. They're teaming Roy with Jason in September, remember.
Someone on another forum commented that if Evil!Cass hadn't caused such an outcry and gotten undone, she'd be a co-star in that book come September instead of vanishing.
Sigh...

Date: 2011-06-10 06:42 am (UTC)I hope Slade's plan somehow involves the undoing of Ryan Choi's death. Or, barring that, the slow and painful murder of Slade. 'cause he is mondo-league outclassed here.

Date: 2011-06-11 12:14 am (UTC)Yep, that's the Goddamn Batgod himself getting squashed. In the character's 31 year history, the only one I can remember beating up Deathstroke is Wonder Woman, who can go one on one with Superman.
Which means that Supergirl should stomp him... Except they jobbed Kara out to Cass Cain. That would never have happened to Diana or Clark.

The fact that certain events have happened doesn't make them any more plausible or defensible (See also: Marvel's furious backpedal on Spider-Man's curbstomping of Firelord).
I wouldn't have as much of a problem with Invinci-Slade if he wasn't consistently portrayed as being capable of taking on the entire Titans team at the same time, when strength-wise, he shouldn't have been able to take on early Donna head-on.
And yes, Cass whomping on Kara was bullshit then, and moreso now.
Wait a damn minute...

Date: 2011-06-10 12:35 pm (UTC)The Isis/Osiris story makes no sense either. If Isis is back, doesn't SHE overrule Amon like 100% of the time. Osiris is not the King of Khandaq, he's just the brother-in-law. And what country in their right mind would STILL go to war against a Khandaq that has two Shazam-powered being still around. Black Adam alone slaughtered Biyala and took over both the Great 10 and most of the world's heroes all by HIMSELF. Yet Qurac (a country once nuked by Cheshire not long ago DC time) is attacking Khandaq? Why? How? Where is the strategic logic? It makes me fear for the Wallace-written Mr. Terrific title.

Date: 2011-06-10 01:20 pm (UTC)At least Roy didn't look like Roy.
I thought for a while that the reboot wasn't going to retcon much, but it needs to retcon this... whatever out of existence (and seeing that Roy is back with his nUarm... maybe we'll turn the time back even to pre-Titans (when this was a real book) issue 15 or so...

Date: 2011-06-10 02:41 pm (UTC)Even when this title starred heroes, it wasn't much of a book: Just rehash of horribly cliched storylines, mutilating characterizations, and slowly destroying the Titans as a whole. When the reboot hits I'm hoping for this series and its impacts to be fully wiped away, especially for Roy and Joey's sake.

Date: 2011-06-10 02:51 pm (UTC)To both the Justice League (Which currently has former actual Titans in it) finally stepping in and finally having a mention of Jericho. I would say how odd it is Slade's referring to his son by his codename when everyone around him knows who he is, but it's this book so it's stupidly normal for that to happen.
Now we'll see how DC severely screws over Jericho yet again.

Date: 2011-06-12 03:14 am (UTC)Well now...
Date: 2011-06-10 06:24 pm (UTC)But still, I am rather annoyed at the fact the Roy basically turned into an emo prick after the death of Lian, but he's getting his turn-around point soon (or so how that rock-bottom line seems to imply) while Osiris is really turning into Black Adam Jr after bring his sister back out of desperation to save his sister because the White Lantern told him so. Heck, Sinestero, the guy's name is slight off from "sinister", has been acting more of a hero.
I always envision Osiris as a character seeking redemption, or at least plague with a power he doesn't want, but can't it give it. Siris went through a depression killing a man who was about to kill his sister, and then when he made himself vulnerable, on advice fo his friend, Sobeck, and then said friend eats him alive. And because of that, Isis encourages Adam to kill, causing World War III, and then Adam fooled around with her corpse, and then made her insane when the 2 of them took on the JSA before the Wizard stoned them. In the after life, Osiris seen all of this is relatively turned by himself, his powers, and his kingdom. He wants nothing to do with Black Adam (seeing how he corrupted his sister and he a mass murder), but can't find the strength to give them up out of fear of vulnerability, but he would find guidance by being Freddy's protege... but no. He is now an irredeemable little s**t because he killed people and was part of the death of The Adam, he like Superboy Prime, written to be hated and evil, while Roy makes a comeback because he is an oldie and has a mainstream fanbase!
.. hate it when writers play favorites like this...
