It's sort of interesting though how Damian refers to Cass as the Black Bat and not her time as Batgirl. I wonder if this anything to do with the revamp? Probably not just him using her current name.

So we get a nice little banter between Cass and Tim about the demon spawn:



And yeah there's another great Cass moment in this too. But I think I'll let another post that or you can get it yourself. Gates of Gotham pretty much is delivering in a great story. Dick looks like to be in good hands come Sept.

I still kind of wish this was sort of an ongoing event. Seeing Bruce's kids (save for Jason) work together on something is just a sight to behold.

I'm just annoyed that people put up with it. Be nice if Cass just nerve pinched his mouth shut instead of just leaving him.

eh i think its more Damian just covering up for his initial blubbering, feeling he needs to save face.

i really feel the way Tim feels now. Its what i expect from Damian. that way moments like his interactions with Stephanie and Kara seem all the more fun.

And here I was hoping Damian would be fawning over her (if only to show some depth in his interactions with other characters). Really there's no logical reason why he shouldn't...Cass has beaten the two greatest assassins to ever be affiliated with the League, that should command instant respect. Damian becomes a little one note when he treats EVERYONE like shit. Even Guy Gardner and Lobo have ppl they like....

im going with what i said above, he's probably trying to save face. he was a little... ata loss for words when he first met her, and has always wanted to meet her, so now he is putting up a hard front.

where is (the kid he befriended a while back... jacob? dude that was expposed to the Venom formula?) when you need him.

That would have been more interesting, yet still within character. He's already done this to death with Steph and assorted other DCU types. It's boring now.

I think Damian has a little boy crush on Cass and is covering up by being mean to her.

It's interesting how different the way he talks to Cass compared to Steph.

The first time Damian showed up he killed the Spook and cut his head off (or killed him BY cutting his head off). And all anyone cares about is his pissy attitude, rather than the homicidal tendencies he's already acted on.

probably cuz that was when he first showed up after being raised by a group that has the word "assassins" in its name. He hadn't gotten any indoctrination to counter that. Nowadays, while he threatens a lot and probably still wants to kill, he doesn't anymore. Before no one could stop him, now they can. Character development, I know, so unbelievable in comic book, it's weird.

Bruce notes on his return the almost unbelievable job that Dick has done with Damian in terms of redirecting him towards a more heroic, less homicidal path, he's effectively socialised him.... it's certainly not perfect yet (as Damian's treatment of women in particular seems to highlight, and which he is sorely needing taken down a peg or two on (Dick's baffling lack of action when Damian referred to DONNA TROY as "harlot" is particularly bewildering) but even Damian admits that when he first arrived he was consumed by anger towards Bruce and that's now pretty much out of his system.

You'd think Damian would fawn over Cassandra, but Cassandra is so, calm, stoic when in costume I'd think she'd be boring to watch for Damian unless they were in combat

Oh and look Tim Drake behind the computer doing Tim Drakey stuff. People forget he was the "smart, nerdy" Robin. Now Teen Titans solicit doesn't scare me as much.

I really hope Stephanie's time as Batgirl is kept in canon. Despite what Damian says to Stephanie, how he initially treats her, they have have great chemistry/dynamic. I like how Miller in the Batgirl book sort of out of all other writers not only GETS Damian's snobbishness but he also GETS that he is only 10 years old child. Thus his erudite cocky persona can cave once and while and exposes his age. Being said I'd say despite I think at least under Miller's pen I'd say he has a bit of a crush on Stephanie (hug-punch relationship like Steph says of her and Barbara's relationship)

My one worry is that Stephanie's run as Batgirl will either be retconned or just never happened and that's really troublesome. Out of all people, I think that Damian had benefited from that book in terms of good character development that was NEEDED. And to loose that would be a shame.

Damian shouldn't be talking to his sister like that either...

speaking of sister...I wonder if he's doing the same thing he does with Tim and Dick, pointing out her original name, rather than her adopted name.

OR is this just DC's sneaky way of letting us know she was never really adopted? Is the adoption ever referenced?

Then again, the fact that Damian mentions her being relocated unlike himself...leaves the impression that Cass should be treated like him...except for her "failings" she's not. In other words, she's not another employee/soldier, but a family member.

I doubt it. Damian's feeling a little insecure and he was saying in what he felt was subtle terms that Cass was relocated in Hong Kong that she wasn't good enough, so mentioning that she was once Batgirl would contradict that a bit.

LOL, Cass looking at him, like "awww, lookie the little bat boy," back in GoG #1 must' have really offended him, that now he's gotta prove he's better than her, by knocking her down. Typical boys' behavior if you ask me.

Why are people mad about this? I'm a Cass fan and I ain't even mad. Cass shouldn't be either. She should be able to read him for what it is. Boy's retaliating cuz he thinks she was looking down on him earlier.

He's intimidated by her, and the fact that she refuses to take his bait annoys him even more. Not that I wouldn't love for Cass to take him a peg down or two, but her non-reaction itself is a good response.

Damien is just being a jerk and his usual immature self. Most people like Steph, Tim and Beast Boy actually bite, while the other few like Cass, Dick, and Kara have already learned not to add fuel to the fire.

Then you have Rose who just banters with him but doesn't let him get to her.

Little boys like that are not entrusted with lives. They are scolded and reprimanded when they do crap.

That is the important difference that makes Damien painfully obnoxious to me.

She clears out the Lounge and saves Damian who pulls a Lethal Weapon 3 (meaning he accidentally speeds the clock up of a bomb then disconnecting it). Of course he's pissed off she saved him even though they barely made it out alive and their costumes are in tatters.

Alas you have to wait till #3 comes out. I can only post one page and if I posted it would only cover the ending with Damian being all pissy at Cass for saving him. I need three more pages (including that one) and that can only be posted when #3.
