As far as I can tell, the general idea seems to be something like:

"Roger Stern is one of the all-time great Marvel writers, so sometimes we just let him go nuts on whatever the hell he feels like, and it usually turns out pretty okay."

This actually reads like an adaptation of a Cap annual I read as a boy, in which the four Caps (the original, the Spirit of '76, the Patriot and the guy from the 50s) were recruited to deal with the same situation. It was the story where it came out that Jeff Mace was dying of cancer.

It would be nice to see other ethnicity / races represented under this mantle though. Not to start wank but Im kinda sick and tired of seeing America represented by white and apple pie. It would be neat to see an American of Hispanic descent or Asian descent be an advocate for American Justice.

I'm glad about this. It's just being multi ethnic myself, I'm a proud American and you get all these stereotypes now adays that only show one side of who and what represents the U.S.A.

I only know what comes up in this preview...if he appeared in the first issue, I didn't read it...all I know is he was created for this book (I looked him up since he seemed interesting - 'Commander A' is a hella hard name to google!), is from the future, and has at least Japanese and indeterminate Hispanic ancestry (Morales is a pretty common name in Spain and multiple Latin American countries, so figuring out specifically where his father's family is from is going to take more info than I have).

Yeah, it's funny you should mention that, since as was pointed out, the Captain America of the future is a mixed-race Japanese/Hispanic guy.
