Good question!

So, is this as good as the 90s DC Phantom?

I know not of the 90s DC Phantom. Is that the one they still keep in Sunday comic print 'til now?

Also, it is quite great :) It doesn't try too hard to be like the original but at the same time it keeps true to the myths and even explains some of them.

The Sunday Comics are IIRC Team Fantomen's stuff. That or it's just reprints.

Then I am not aware of the DC Phantom.

Anyways, it's all grim and gritty but it's not straying too far from the original Phantom but not trying to be too much like it either.

Yeah, I wonder too. Most "future stories" seemed to indicate they'd share the Wandering Ghost Mantle (which wouldn't hurt the entire "supernatural entity" aspect of the legend...)

And even if they both abandoned it for a bit, I'd assume he'd keep in contact with Heloise if he loved her so much.

Unless she's been offpanel fridged, which is what makes him grim n gritty now.

Unless it happened in some Phantom-related heroic blaze of glory, then I hope not. Heloise was always depicted as more fit for the Phantom role than Kit, but Kit had to work harder because the Phantom had to be male if there was any chance of it.
