Hal just saved the Green Lantern Corps. In a team effort, he help free the rest of the Lanterns from Paralax's influence, helped free the "New Guardians" from the Black Book, gave a heroic speech that made Sinestro part of the Corps again, and killed Korna and restore the rest of Oa back to normal... and WHAT do the Guardians of the Universe do right after that? This happens RIGHT after the EMotion Enties leave them.

Wait... didn't they died when Hal went Nutso with Paralax... and they came back to life too? And are they THAT surprise? They DID allow the Rings to kill... and Krona wasn't an offcial Guardian... besides, didn't they kill him too and he still came back... like they did. You think being reborn would give them some enlightenment....

KORNA WASN'T A GUARDIAN... IN A WAY!!! And should they really have reason to mouth off to Gan like that? That little secret DID help them.... in a away.... and really? Hal just save both you and what you stood for, and you're kicking him out? Didn't your actions BROUGHT Blackest Night to be, oh wise Guardians? Hal got ***ked by the people he just saved and this is how the story ends...

So yeah, Hal saves the day and the entire Corps from their "Darkest Hour" and THIS is how he is rewarded.... I am experiance real story rage now, where the story actually makes me made because the events seem actual real and plausible rather than HOW it was written or exeucated, like the ending to "The Last Seduction." You just HATED Bridget for what she did in the movie and ends up getting everything she wants with no real hinderance to herself and you wish the same things to happen to her as you would for Umbridge from Harry Potter, but still, the story was well written.

Still, I have a funny feeling this is how Spidey had to deal with Marvel after the 3rd movie and MJ had to be written off...

WOW! That's the most unheroic and unfair ending to a epic battle....

I know it was a dick move to the 11th notch, but you know that they'll just but it under the flashpoint bus and say that it really WASN'T suppose to happen and fix it for something hopefully better. I totally agree with your assessment of the Guardians, and think they all need a kick to the crotch

They won't--in September, Green Lantern is starring Sinestro.

So...the Guardians of the Universe are just full-blown antagonists by this point, right? Its like they've been slowly growing in dickishness for years, and it culminated in "LOL lets just give crazy ass Sinestro a ring and kick out Hal freakin' Jordan, who also just saved our lives".

As I recall, they didn't give the ring to Sinestro--it was just a ring that chose a new candidate.

Ironically, this was what the Guardians wanted to do at the end of part 1 of EMERALD TWILIGHT.

"Lantern Jordan, you can't just use your ring to create a Norman Rockwell-esque version of your home town. Surrender your ring."

Instead, Hal went "PARALLAX-O'CLOCK, BITCH!" (Don't recall where I heard that line. I think it was a fan meme or something.)

Yeah, after this, I'm actually really looking forward to GL in September--I'm sure Hal won't be without a ring for long, but hopefully that means that Hal and Sinestro will be co-stars, which will make the book even better. Hal's always better when he has an over-the-top, type-a personality to deal with, I find.

Well, yeah, it's not like most of the other Corps wouldn't be glad to have him. How many colors in the spectrum again? He could come back playing Mandarin with a ring on almost every finger.

Well, it's nice to see that Johns still fails to understand the Guardians.

And his pay-offs still aren't worthy of the set-up.

And that Hall Jordan continues to be the most specialest of snow-flakes.

Hal wasn't the only one attacking Krona when he died. I'm kinda expecting this to be a swerve and the one who was *really* able to overpower the ring was Sinestro, who fighting at Hal's side.

One of the ten revised laws (and will we ever learn all ten?) was that lethal force was authorized against all enemies of the GLC. If Krona didn't fit that criteria, I'd be hard-pressed to figure out who did.

The most mind-boggling thing about recent events in Green Lantern is how DC expects new readers drawn in by the movie to figure out what's going on (and the delays were exceptionally inexcusable at the time they happened, with the movie just coming out.

I'm checking out the DCnU Lantern titles come September, but I can say I'm most looking forward to New Guardians at this point. The old Guardians need to go away, though.

It's not mind-boggling at all, when you consider that they straight-up DON'T expect new readers to be drawn in from the movies...because history has shown us that the movies don't bring in new readers. We've now got a bunch of movies that show us this.

At most, folks might buy a trade prior to the movie (Watchmen saw a huge upsurge), but people hunting down a comic book shop to buy comics for th hero they just saw? Doesn't happen in large numbers, if it happens at all. Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and others have not seen a sudden rise in demand following a superhero movie for ongoing titles.

At least the bastards had the decency to clothe Hal while they kicked him out of the Corps for saving their lives, possibly the universe (again) and stranding him God knows where.

You know, just once, I'd like Ganthet to say something like "I changed your diapers, you blue twits!"

Or Kyle to remind them that they would still be dead if it wasn;t for him giving up the Ion powers.

But this does not surprise. One of the truisms of comics is that the Guardians will eventually act like dicks. Because you cn't have a maverick cop (Hal) if his bosses are understanding.

The best part about this ending is that during the final battle with Krona, he specifically called out the Guardians as being megadouches, asking Hal why he defended them. Hal didn't even disagree - he just emphasized that he does what he does for the Corps and not for the Guardians. And then the Guardians went and proved that Krona was at least partially right.

Basically, the Guardians are now afraid of Hal, because he has the will to kill a Guardian and has openly defied them multiple times. The fun thing is, if they weren't such gigantic dicks, they wouldn't need to worry about it.

Jesus Christ this is bullshit, he does all of that crap for them and they dump him off literally in the middle of no where. He has hardly any non superhero supporting cast to fall on, and he spends most of his time crime fighting and I do not think he has his job. God knows the guardians do not pass out checks at the end of the week, so it is safe to assume he is broke. No wonder they teleported his ass out of there so fast, he might have picked up sinestro's yellow ring out the trash(Thaal dropped that thing like a bad habit) and got some much needed payback.

Overall I really liked War of the green lanterns.

"You can't take my ring. You...can't!" Because it's all he's got. Who is Hal without the Green Lantern Corps? He's a nobody with nothing. In a recent fanfic, I wrote that without being a Green Lantern, Hal is just someone who "crashed a few planes, and broke a few hearts". Admittedly I'm a cockeyed fangirl for Hal Jordan, but this is a heartbreaker in completely human terms.

I did lol at that part, because I imagined it in a 'noes!! It's all I have!!' kind of tone.

As it is, he does have a job, right? But Johns has put so little focus on it since he was intent in getting the Blackest Night stuff going he seemed to forget it entirely.

Can this please mean that Hal is not going to be a GL for a long, long, long, long, long time, like NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Because I find a Sinestro GL book FAR MORE INTERESTING than Hal "I am absolutely perfect" Jordan.

See, here's the thing, Hal is so perfect you can't show him screwing up, but when something goes wrong, it's because of OTHER PEOPLE'S (like the Guardians) stupidity, not Hal's.

am I the only one who feels we're seeing a slightly modified version of the original Emerald Twilight proposal? The one where we have Guardians vs Guardians and the side Hal picks loses so he loses his ring and Sinestro is on the other side.

well, actually a ton of them tried to quit, then Salaak had every ring do a scan of their Lantern's brain. Every single one was diagnosed as suffering from Post Tramatic Stress so no major decisions are being accepted that day.

So I'm just throwing it out there but you know back when Johns threw that do-over on Hal Jordan killing all the Guardians, he did it by dumping the blame for the entire thing on

you know

Sinestro

Sinestro is responsible for the murder of every single one of the Guardians, literally the exact same guardians who are floating there in front of him being moronic shitheels to Hal.

Sadly I can totally see them doing something like this to Hal or any GL, but you know they are being unusually jerky when they basically tell Ganthet AND Saint Walker to GFY. Those two have like never done anything wrong to anyone else.

On a related note: Aren't Guardians susposed to be hundreds of times more powerful than a Green Lantern? If so then how can Hal essentially one hit kill Krona who is also wearing all 7 different colored power rings to boot? Even Hal shouldn't have been able to channel that much will power through his ring, if Ganthet overloaded HIS ring and blew off his hand by trying to channel his Guardian orb powers through it.
