Date: 2011-09-22 07:17 pm (UTC)But I agree, red costume aside (what was wrong with the blue?), this actually sounds like Nightwing and UNLIKE other DCnU titles not somebody with Nightwing/Dick's name but all new - and worse - characteristics (that Barry Allen caused).

Date: 2011-09-22 07:13 pm (UTC)It was very reminiscent of Chuck Dixon (in both a good and bad way). Seeing Dick as a competent but fairly regular well-adjusted guy is always nice.
Annoyed at STILL no scene of the handover from Dick back to Bruce, and how Damian reacted to it.
Bad side is that yet again, Dick, after making an impressive physically, but hardly challenging combat at the start, is used as the punching bag by a mysterious new villain to prove how badass he is, and ends up with broken ribs (a serious Dixon trope).
I'm also sincerely hoping that the last comment from the new villain isn't some sort of indicator of Dick having a "Deep and mysterious past", I really don't want him to have one of those, really, REALLY don't want. (Also wondering if it ties in to the events of this weeks Batman #1.

I don't think so. I think I recall Bruce talking about Dick needing some downtime after what he'd been through, though that could mean his undercover mission in Arkham.

...Which I mean I even totally see the argument for it, because with the two of them you have an ultimately lighthearted, optimistic dude and a grim, serious, angry douchebag, but then with Bruce/Damien you have like a grim serious angry douchebag, and... another grim serious angry douchebag. So it's like, what even the hell.
