This one picks up right where the last issue left off...it was an okay read...the easter eggs did make me smile! :D

And yes, I did say *easter eggs.* You'll see! ;)

Oh! And speaking of cats...let's cut down to the action scene! Does she....or does she not kill Moretti? Hold that thought!

And she DOESN'T kill him! Just like I thought she wouldn't. Also, this last page confirms that the reporters did know Helena was Huntress the whole time. Oooooohhhh!!! :O

Whee! Two more issues to go after this! :D

Hrrmmm...who could Helena *really* be at this point? Good question. We'll find out in March. ;)

I dunno, I hope that those easter eggs are just that, and this isn't some sort of Earth 2/displaced Helena Wayne thing, since I really do prefer the Bartinelli take on her.

It's also becoming extremely formulaic at this point--Helena meets her reporter friends, makes a thousand cat references, sneaks into someplace, fights some dudes, kicks their asses with little effort, and gets away. It's starting to get really boring.

If she is Helena Wayne, I don't think she is displaced. If both she and Peege are on the main DCU Earth, I'm sure there's a story reason for it. After all, Helena's journey does seem to end with Earth-2 JSA, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

With regards to the formulaic nature of this mini, I have to sadly agree. It was fun at first, but it's not really going anywhere. At this point I'm starting to think this mini was just to buy James Robinson time.

What editorial or creative sense does it make to do a slate clearing line-wide reboot, then hang on to some of the more needlessly complicated stuff from before?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Compared to DC not being able to make up their mind about what is still in continuity and what isn't on their main Earth, I honestly find Earth-2 a much less complicated concept for the fact that they at least *have* a consistent history. :/

While im sure im biased because I grew up with Bertinelli!Huntress, Im agree that this doesn't make sense whether they're reintroducing Huntress as a displaced Earth-2(er) and/or as Bruce Wayne/Selena's daughter/

Especially when you consider that the two most visible iterations of the character outside of the comics were the Bertinelli Huntress.

I don't think cartoons are considered all that visible. There's still an animation age ghetto out ther to a degree. That would make Live Action Birds of Prey the most known Huntress. And she was Helena Wayne

I think the point here was that the show's Huntress was given Helena Wayne's origin, and was therefore established as 'the daughter of Batman and Catwoman' to the show's audience members. To anyone who hasn't read the superior comicbook version of the series, Helena Bertinelli is unheard of and wouldn't be able to make that connection even if she *did* act more like Helena B.

Either way that show was one of the worst depictions of DC characters I have ever seen since Joel Schummacher's Batman and Robin movie. Aside from Barbara Gordon/Oracle who was the only character done right, none of the show's main characters had any resemblance to their comicbook counterparts. Out of Huntress, Black Canary, and Harley Quinn, Black Canary was especially the most butchered. Now THAT was a character that was 'Dinah Lance' in name only because writers completely missed the mark with that character. Say what people will about the Smallville version, but she was a significant improvement over the version we got on the BOP show since she was a bit closer to the comicbook version.

and i agree i think these are all JUST easter eggs. everyone knows Levitz wrote Helena Wayne, he's loving the teasing. I STILL think this is Helena Bertinelli and they are on "our earth" that does not mean there is no Helena Wayne (i just don't think this is her).

The way I know it, she's the type to get the job done herself. Not wait for the cops to show. She's never been *this* soft on criminals. Just saying! :P

She's still been pretty violent. And like I said she has let others (ie the victims) freak with the bad guy before (can't remember where off the top of my head) but its in character. She's no leaving them to the cops, she's leaving him to the victims

I have to kindly disagree. Her level of violence in this mini so far has been considerably toned down compared to how she's handled crime bosses in the past, which was usually with more lethal force. Something like this is more her style. That being said, giving Moretti one hell of a beating before threatening to feed him to the sharks herself would have been more in character for her.

Do we actually get to see the girls taking revenge/deciding to leave him to the law? It's really bothered me how they've had pretty much no voice or presence in this mini beyond being victims in the background.

Nope not at all. Helena just leaves him at the mercy of the abused girls and that's ALL we see of the situation. :(

The thing that got me about this scene though is...wasn't it established in the last issue that Moretti is *connected* to the Italian police? And she's leaving him to them? That made no sense to me. :(

I appreciate it too, mostly because I'm also of Italian descent and quite olive-y, but there are a lot of different ways to look Italian - some people are very fair skinned.

(When I was a kid and people used to describe me as olive skinned, I always wondered if they meant green or black. :D Actually, I still don't really understand why it's called that....)
