Is it me, or is the perspective on Darkseid a little off? Like how his head looks tiny and his arms vary wildly in length/

I'm more concerned by the notion that they seem to have turned Darkseid into lumbering silent brick who says nothing. If I'm right, Jack Kirby is spinning fast enough to power the entire world, at this point.

That just makes me want to make a parody of the scene with Wonder Woman and the kid having ice cream. Only it's Darkseid.

I'm going to go with that one. I mean honestly, why would he? I'm sure as far as he's concerned, these are insects who are just in his way. I mean, they're not GODS. And Hal is, to him, Just Another Green Lantern (tm).

So is Hal Jordan the DCnU!Roy Harper of the Justice League? Or has he always been this much of an egotistical dumbass who gets his ass handed to him a lot? I'm only asking cause I'm not too familiar with Hal's character.

Then why did he got there? He's Darkseid, he's a god; if he moves into the battlefield it's to give a speech that destroys morale and offers only servitude and slavery before destroying all of his enemies.

Why the heck would he boom-tube to near the JL and then just walk away?

No more villain exposition, no more "grandeur" about Darkseid.. just this Doomsday-ysh carrure/fists first approach....

Actually, though, Darkseid is pretty damn chatty, especially with those less than him -- after all, who else does he have to talk to? And this silent smashing riff just makes him look like The Destroyer or any other giant robot.

I mean, even Doomsday grunted.

I'm surprised Johns didn't have Darkseid call Hal the greatest foe he's ever fought before getting smacked around.

There is something menacing about the lord of Apokolips coming in person and just steamrolling everyone without a care while advancing toward his objective.. yet with what we know of him so far and how long this's slated to go, I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out he'd just popped in to buy a new couch of the Earth variety.

Hal being a screw-up is something that, when you look at his history, has always seemed to have been the case, but people writing him have never acknowledged or tried to wash away.

THere's this weird thing with characters since perfection started to be considered bad. You give everyone faults and for some reason with some characters the flaws are they only things recognized, but not for others.

Yeah, I could see Thanos doing it, becuase well, Thanos likes crushing puny insects, but Darkseid? No.

Silver age Hal Jordan was kind of an idiot. I think that's what Johns is getting at here. He's probably aiming for him to be comic relief of the group.

I can't wait for the updated take on classic Hal moments like these.
