I wonder what the nightly news is like in the MU...
"The Human Torch is, apparently, alive. So yeah, hit up those office pools if you had six months. In other news New York was almost destroyed again. Why people continue to live in densely populated cities that are prime for attack at least once a year is still a mystery to sociologists."
I'm more interested in how it affects vendetta- or sane-supervillains. I wonder if they just sit down and are like "Okay, twenty-odd years, and now I finally have the chance to do it. I'll finally kill Captain Superhero!" and proceed to remember how every dead superhero ever has come back from the dead with little to no consequences. That has to mess with your motivation.
That makes me wonder, if a supervillain kills a hero and get tried for it, and the hero comes back to life, what happens? Does the charge get knocked down to attempted murder with a similarly reduced sentence? Would that require a retrial, or just a resentencing?
Sure. Fine. But don't think for a second that Marvel wasn't looking to make that death have the same kind of impact in the news as the death of Captain America. Those blackbagged issues of FF and shit were hardly part of Hickman's story.
And I'm not saying that to rag on Hickman. I'm getting caught up on Secret Warriors and loving it, at the moment. But don't kid yourself that Marvel had dollar signs in mind when allowing him to 'kill' Johnny off.
I really haven't been following FF at all. Pretty much the only thing I knew about Johnny post-revival was that he was wearing weird ass armor and was in charge of an army. There was some online speculation about him being evil and that was the last I heard of it.
I honestly only found out that that was from that movie five years ago. I've been seeing it parodied for pretty much my whole life without really knowing where it came from.
Modern Family had this great bit where Haley's boyfriend was homaging Say Anything (but with an iPod instead of a boombox.) Phil, Haley's dad, compliments him on the reference. Haley's boyfriend doesn't get it.
Doritos has this Annoying Thing going on where they don't make my favourite flavours available in my region; so I would totally trade you bags of Cajun Spicy Ranch for bags of Salsa Verde or Spice 2.0! :D

Wasn't his death part of the mandatory death-per-quarter thing Marvel was talking about?
