Takio

'Takio' was an all-ages graphic novel that Brian Michael Bendis wrote in 2011. It's about two sisters in an adoptive family that become superheroes. With a new ongoing series based on it that just started, I figured I'd post the beginning of the original as opposed to picking and choosing throughout the entire story. So hopefully if you like it you'll check out the full thing.

Neither of them die or get disfigured.

The dad basically wants to get his hands on the girl for further experiments so he can replicate the process.

The girl gets powers of her own and she's basically torn between her father and her friends.

Kind of sad that superhero comics nowadays are such a snuff fest that I automatically give cool points to any book where people don't get casually maimed and killed.
