A storm is coming at Valley Forge, and Captain Castle points out to his commander that this means that they'll be without airsupport when it hits, and it'd be the perfect cover for the enemy advance that he been saying would be coming for days now. The command tells him not to worry about it, as everyone knows that the war is nearly over and that they shouldn't rock the boat for asking for more supplies.
This nearly causes Frank to kill him via a grenade while his commander is in a latrine, but he stops himself.

Goodwin fishes his friend Angel out of the bunker/drug den and tries to tell him that he has to stop taking heroin because he doesn't want to get back home with a smack habit. This naturally doesn't slide well with Angel, who bluntly points out that, what with it being 1971, Goodwin is realistically the only one who is going to get home to a decent job, a girl next door ready to sleep with him, and an optimistic future because he's white and middle class, while Angel says that he'd just end up back in the ghetto he started with with no future avaliable...
Angel's smashing of Goodwin's idealism complete, the VC's advance finally arrives, with hundreds of troops running up the hill towards the undermanned and equipt outpost.
