Its a well known scientific fact that making characters hate each other for no damn reason and writing pointless fight scenes between them in an attempt to draw in more readers (because Batman and superman have never, ever, ever fought before) is the single best way to write a comic.
Thats why its all marvel and dc seem to be doing these days. And it is just so much fun to read is it not?
Maybe, but I would have thought that picking a fistfight with a stupidly powerful alien who just wants to talk would not be the most intelligent way of dealing with an interrupted interrogation. Especially when said alien could just fly away and burn his batsuit right off him with his eyes if he so desired.
Also, I know comic book illogical...ness is hardly something to question, but how exactly does batman know about Clark being weak to red sunlight? As far as I know regarding this continuity only Clark's inner circle would ever know about this.
Or is batman just being written as another unspeakably boring "all powerful/all knowing/undefeatable super badass" in the vein of ASBAR? Because if so I will just go back to reading ASBAR because at least I could get a few giggles out of that, which is more than I can say for what I have seen of this comic so far.
Pride and Rep man. Pride and Rep. Bruce probably needs to prove to himself he could take Superman if he had to and just imagine how scared that dude is going to be of Batman AFTER he cold clocks Supes one.
Definitely more of a Steph vibe here, given the talk of the symbol-doodling, which is, of course, a standard thing, but something Miller had her do before.
Well, since it's NIGHTWING crushing on Superman, I prefer to eschew the Barbara/Steph nonsense and read it as a very cleverly disguised Dick (who also journaled once upon a time)!
I think despite the name-dropping of "Barbara", Bryan Q Miller is still writing as the character's still Stephanie. And who can blame him - DC got their way, the "iconic" version of Nightwing (who we all know is Barbara Gordon apparently) is now in the digital comic, I doubt they're paying close attention to how the character is actually written.
Thank GOD this was Barbara Gordon. I mean, this is so very out of character for Stephanie Brown and if they had her doing those things, I would be so scared and confused that I'd never buy another comic book ever again! My world would be thrown into chaos, the stars would fall into the ocean, and the universe would implode in on itself, creating a vast vortex of nothingness from which nothing would be able to escape, save for the screams of the damned.
And that is why it is a good thing that they changed this character from Steph to Babs.
I don't blame the creators for doing as little as possible to change their work. They chose Barbara because compared to the other choices she was closer in personality to Steph than the others, there for little would have to be changed in story.
Yes what DC did sucked but the creative team is trying to keep up. It doesn't help that Didio is telling everyone exactly who is to blame. The creative team.
Honestly, I can see a young Barbara Gordon being a bit like this. I think a lot of people are just used to her in her mid-30s in a wheelchair commanding black ops teams to remember she was once a young woman who was a mix of Batman's intelligence and drive and Robin's zest.
As someone who was there at the time, I rarely recall THAT much zest in her Batgirl career.
Sure, she wasn't as grim or focussed as Bruce, but since she didn't become Batgirl until she was already a college graduate, she never had the impulsiveness or humour of Dick's Robin career.
