That costume is really busy. And why is his face grey? Is he wearing facepaint or something? It's weird, since the design they did up for Superman's costume is actually really good, but this Batman is a hot mess. Why is it that when people try to redesign costumes to be realistic they end up making them overly complex and way goofier?
I almost wish this WAS an actual episode, so we can here the "deep gravely" Batman voice... funny how the so called "Best Batmen" do that without being parodied, while the Batman VA, like how awesomely Kevin Conroy nailed it between his Bruce Wayne and Batman voices...
How the heck does he get it off quickly if he has to do a rapid change? Why not just do a full mask?
I had the same thoughts about the movie batmen, actually. If you look closely, a lot of them are wearing HEAVY black eye makeup so you don't see flesh colouring through the mask's eye holes. Bale is wearing as much eyeshadow as Ledger under there. I keep picturing what it must look like when he takes the mask off. Of course, the movies skip over this and just show a clean faced Bruce Wayne the instant the mask comes off, without showing what must be a fairly intense bout of bat-washing with bat-makeup remover and bat-coldcream.
What I want to know is why the bat symbol on his chest is glowing brightly orange? (Or is it only in these scans it's glowing?) I can handle the armour and grey face, but that is really distracting. It's like hanging a neon sign that's telling everyone where to hit him.
I usually excuse all the various brightly coloured chest emblems he wears with the excuse from Dark Knight Returns. It's more heavily armored than the rest of the suit and specifically designed to draw fire there instead of somewhere harder to armor.
