Isabel tells everybody to chill and just talk instead of keep on fighting.



Joker's diabolical plans for Jason is framing him with looking like he overdose Isabel with drugs. Which of course is taunting Jason about the circumstances concerning his own mother's death.

I'm not even sure I see this Super as being that much of a douche, he's floating there, he's SUPERMAN, and Roy fires a metal tipped arrow at him, now I'm all for the little guy beating the big guy in such situations, but that level of insane optimism is akin to Golden Age Bucky picking up a baseball bat and going out to attack Galactus

Weirdly, I have more of a problem with Superman using his HEAT vision as a force blast. It wouldn't "Knock them on their asses", it would incinerate them

No weirder than the same way a lot of people (myself included) nitpick about Cyclops' optic blasts having a thermal effect.

Maybe he just heats the air in front of them and subsequent pressure differential knocks them off their feet.

I usually give them a little leeway on Cyclops, since they are usually called "optic blasts", a vague term which doesn't actually tell you what their function is. (Yes, it should be pure kinetic energy, but a bit of friction will generate SOME heat.)

Heat vision is much, much more specific, and any time it's been used that I can recall, and that's over a good few decades now, it's shown as beams of red energy (or even invisible energy) which cause things to combust/melt, but are not forced away from him as a side effect.

This looks desperately like a writer waffling a little to fix a problem that an artist not understanding what a power is supposed to be able to do, caused, and frankly if you're not aware of how SUPERMAN'S powers work, what are you even doing in the genre? they're not exactly complicated.

I don't think he's directly knocking them down with the heat vision; I think he's using it to fuse the sand under them into glass so that they slip on it. Which, you know, nonsensical, feet on fire, but whatever.

Unless that shiny stuff under them is water and he forced it to the surface with steam pressure. Or something. Hard to tell with this art.

And I don't mind Superman being dismissive, but if he's not going to try to tactfully talk them into surrendering, I think it'd be more in character for him to just speed-disarm them at this point. That said, I have no idea what anyone else expected to accomplish in this fight either.

It's not so much optimism as it is sticking to your pride and dignity. So you're fighting a guy whom you don't stand a chance against; so, what, you're just bow your head and do what you're told just because Mr. Superman said so? Not to mention that his douchey attitude really is asking for a smack in the face.

You might want to save your finite supply of actual weapons for a situation where they will be of some use. Verbally snark all you like, in fact that would have impressed me more "You think I'd waste arrows on you? What would be the point of that?"
