Dammit, this is just too adorable. Marvel, you're actually making me smile. Quick, kill someone off so I know you're still edgy and dark.
But seriously, I can't tell if Medusa's happy or a little bit uncomfortable none of the kids are bowing (more in character the first, but the second makes me laugh).
Actually, he couldn't communicate other than with Devil Dinosaur. The other Angels couldn't understand him. Chance sort of could read their body language, but that was it.
Simple answer, as given in Fallen Angels, is that Moon Boy isn't from the past, he's from a parallel Earth's present (Which would explain why he and Devil Dinosaur could co-exist at the same time)
I kind of like this....there are a few missteps (Medusa expecting the royal treatment, Ben CONSTANTLY YELLING, the FF going to so much effort to cover what is ostensibly 4 minutes when we've never seen them do that before)....but the cuteness overrides it for me. It's nice to have a comic where kids aren't being slaughtered every other page. :)
The words are nice and entertaining, I think Fraction's got it so far, but the art. Oy. Bagley is not one of those artists who seem to excel at kids (which is needed in FF). Valeria not only does not look much younger than Franklin (remember she said she was 3-4 just a few issues ago with Bentley) but she's basically drawn as Sue with a smaller body.
I think I prefer it the way it is. Bagley doesn't do well in terms of variation, but if we're going to have him on a Fantastic Four book, I'd rather it be this one. The line-up of characters in FF feels distinctly more Allred than the actual FF themselves.
Plus Bagley has always had a talent for drawing giant machines and technical doo-dads in the background. I got reminded of scenes from Ultimate Spider-Man with that array in the above "Is That A Monkey?" panel.
All of the above, plus the return of Most Common Superpower. I mean, look to the right of the panel showing DM and the kids. There's buxom and then there's straight-up primetime stripper class. (Not that I should complain, but realistic proportions can be sexy too)
Has the animosity between Ben Grimm and Yancy Street ever been explained fully? IIRC, there was something about a Yancy Street Code that said everyone from there had to stay there until death and anyone who left was a traitor. I don't get it either.
