DIAL H #9 came out this week. We get more on the Centipede, the Canadian government's own super-powered assassin...

Roxie and Nelson have a run-in with the Canadian secret agent Centipede, who's after their H-Dial. Roxie dials up to fight him.

Her name's Minotaura, by the way.

Much later, the Centipede works his way free and heads back to base:

Roxie and Nelson decide to break into this secret Canadian super-facility (which turns out to be hidden beneath a government payroll center).

Oh Canada...

From the people that brought you the Weapon X program, here's our newest creation: Dial H for homicide!

*I was originally going to say "the Centipede," but my pride as a Canadian couldn't let me do that.

I read that as Dial H for Hickey at first.

I'll, er, go back to hide in my corner now...

I would have thought it'd be indignity enough to be the super-powered being who makes everyone involuntarily shudder and/or remind themselves to get a bowel cancer screening when they hear his name.

Again with the secret meta-assassins Canada?

I mean really...what did Canada do that convinced comic-writers they're one of the most evil governments in the world?

John Byrne decided we were and everyone has just gone with it since then.

I'm always bothered by human tits on animal humanoids (birdwomen being the worst). Catgirls should have four pairs of nipples, and minocow should have udders.

…what do you mean “furry”?

I've always thought serpent and lizard people were the worst. But then I played Legend of the Five Rings for like a decade, with its enboobed Naga.

I'll shamefully admit that somehow I had the hots for the Naga-ettes in Chrono Trigger, 16-bit sprite and all. In my defense, I was like 13.

I get that too, but at the same time, they shouldn't be bipedal or have fingers either.

I don't know, somehow I'm just particularly bothered by breasts. Perhaps it's the sameness of the standard "female figure" in fantasy art, regardless of species/planet/hybridization.

I'm pretty sure it's a visual "tits on a bull" joke.

For anyone who hasn't read Mieville's New Crobuzon trilogy (and you really should if you haven't), he's gone to the human-animal hybrid well many times; the Centipede isn't quite the khepri (women with a giant beetle for a head), but it's close.

Visually, maybe, but the Khepri are also one of the most developed xenian races in the Bas-Lag books, and there's plenty to distinguish them.

"Subyellow"?

Isn't the technical name for that "orange"?

It's a color you mostly only find in Pepperland...
