Have they change Starfire back to a version nearer her old pre-52? I only read the first few issues of this comic and what I took from that was that she could barely remember Dick?
Tameranians have a very moment-to-moment memory, especially for emotional relationships in Nu-52. Basically, as far as I understand it, their long-term memories don't really bother to store relationships that much, and they place a great cultural focus on living in the now. Not very nice for Kick-shippers, but interesting by itself, and a good mesh with Jason and Roy. Plus, I believe the implication is that if she spent some time around Dick she'd grow to remember him again, she had vague memories of Jason that I believe were implied to be based on Dick, so she remembers him enough to mistake him for another Robin. If I had to guess I'd say that as well as making the situation super-awkward for Jason at first (Always awesome), that was a pretty open flag to restart Dick and Kory whenever someone has a good idea for that.
Also the whole Slavery backstory has a bit more weight in Kory's character in Red Hood. She reacts very strongly to any implication of being tied down or controlled. That kind of includes any implication of emotional dependence, or even investment. Again, different, but not so much that it would automatically rule out any story someone wanted to go with. I have no doubt that all these elements and more will be entirely ignored the moment someone decides that everything new-52 sux and they should totes bring back TT classic, for better or worse.
Darn it Starfire! Put some clothes on in front of Damian! He's only a child for Rao's sake. Also, Batman doesn't consider Superman a friend, I guess Lobdell missed out on that one issue of Justice League where Batman called Superman his friend! Then again it is Lobdell, so why am I not surprised.
"I'm never going to agree with your methods, but I can't argue with the results"
Umm, who the hell is that talking, because it sure as hell isn't Bruce Batman Wayne, aka "Mr Moral Absolute". Jason shoots people dead, that's pretty much what Batman is always about stopping people doing, unless they are police officers or the like.
Wasn't the whole point of DotF having an anti-climax ending that they didn't want it to be "the story where X got blanked"? I'd say the villain doing it via a previously undiscovered trap in the epilogue still counts, DC.
And on that subject - REALLY? No-one thought to check Jason's helmet wasn't tampered with by the Joker, after they knew the Joker had taken it off him?
The art makes it look like, between everyone's reactions to Jason's face & the fact it's a big red mark on his face, that all the Joker did was give him a rash.
On hearing this news, Damian went to check on his best swords, Tim checked his wings weren't superglued shut and Dick checked his underwear wasn't boobytrapped.
I think it's pretty funny how Bruce is cradling Jason in that last shot. Like, Jason is a grown ass man now, but Bruce is still scooping him up the same way he did when Jason was just a teenager. Also, for a dude who apparently just got a snoot full of acid, Jason looks pretty okay. Like, he looks like maybe he got some hot water splashed on his face or something, but he hardly looks gruesomely disfigured.
Preboot she seeme perfectly happy nude sunbathing in front of Animal Man's kids. Though his son was a creepy so and so and photographed her while she was asleep to show his friends...
It does seem like in their own book Todd's group are meant to be seen as rebels, but everyone seems unreasonably okay with their actions. To distracting levels.
Like the breakfast scene between Jason and Tim earlier in the series... I know that their past anamosity has been mostly wiped away, but considering Jason has tried at least twice to outright MURDER Tim, I find their "Hoho, we are so brotherly aren't we!" routine to be ringing somewhat false.
Whole thing just seems to be... slightly off. Like a cowboy cop who routinely beats confessions out of suspects but no one comments on the amount of laws they're breaking.
The fact that Jason can't even get disfigured properly is also a sticking point with me.
The DCnU sort of removes all of that bad history though. The "Jason tried to murder Tim" thing now can't have happened, since there are now no Teen Titans for Jason to get miffed about them not remembering him.
I doubt Bruce or Alfred would have ever let him out of the cave without something akin to the Fort Knox of chastity-briefs (akin to a chastity belt, but less creepy medieval and more feathery) with fingerprint access... and it took Dick until he was 17 to hack the lock so it was HIS fingerprint that opened it, and not Bruce's.
Nudity was never a problem on Tamaran, it was a tropically sundrenched world (Though she did mention early on that Tamaran wasfurther from Vega than the Earth is from our sun, that was a typo) and they wore clothes for aesthetic reasons (or combat) rather than cultural taboo.
Also preboot she was a fashion model who only DIDN'T pose nude because Donna was worried it might cause some backlash for the Titans. (And when Mirage impersonated Kory she DID pose nude as her, which gave Kory another perfectly legitimate reason to blast her into little bitty pieces)
I'm trying to figure out what 'old wounds' Dick is talking about. What, the five minutes he was with whatshername that The Joker killed, as opposed to the presumably-longer time he was with Kory? Of course, 'partial reboot', we no longer know how long he and Kory were together or if it was anything like it was 'before' since there was no 'before' before. Or something like that. Stupid Nu52.
