IIRC, Ares had similar fears in the early post-Crisis Wonder Woman stories. Mainly, he was worried if there was a nuclear war, there wouldn't be any humans left to fight each other.
Hmmm, see also "The Medusa Bug" episode of ReBoot, where Bob convinces Hexadecimal that the virus she unleashed that turns thing to stone will ultimately be everything that she, as self-styled Queen of Chaos, abhors.
All of Superman's choices are his own, I'm assuming the writer gives us enough credit to know we should already know that. But Wonder Woman being a helping hand in his fall of darkness isn't to bad of a leap. If you look at her personality in a darker light, she'd *unknowingly* push Superman in negative ways.
Actually, if he was willing to take the pain, he just convinced Diana of the rectitude of her cause. And if he had plans for their kids that he just pushed her in that direction as well.
TBF, when have we ever had an absolute unchallenged ruler of the entire world? Or anywhere?
I also agree it wouldn't work, but mostly because there's no such thing as an "absolute" ruler. There's always going to be someone who doesn't agree with the status quo.

A very relative term depending on one's worldview at the time I would think. If your concept of "the world" extends to the valley you live in and a few miles around (Say a half days walk), with little conception of anything beyond that and certainly no concept of moving there, as would be the case with an awful lot of people throughout history, then the local Lord would probably count as as much of an absolute ruler as makes no odds. The more mobile you are, and educated you become, the bigger the world becomes.

And in stories like these that's usually the guy in Gotham with the pointy ears and a cute line in sidekicks.
My train of thought after glancing at that first page was "Dammit Magneto, I know your life sucks in your own universe but you can't just hang around trying to make it suckier in this one!"
Fluttershy then befriended Ares, and although his personality was kind of watered down, he ultimately accepted his new role of God of Occasional Conflict That Ultimately Is Worked Out In The End.
The new title doesn't has as much zip.Though he can't be the God of Friendship, as that is Twilight Sparkle's job now (in addition to her being goddess of magic).
Well if Athena can be the Goddess of a Flash of Insight that Leads to the Correct Action to Solve Problems in the Right Moment (according to Walter Otto), Ares could well be the God of Solving Conflicts by Trusting Your Friends & Working Together.
He could spend some secret vacations with Aphrodite and all. I mean, if I was the lover of the goddamn goddess of beauty sex and burning passion, I'd probably want to make some use of my luck! And I'm quite certain she digs ponies.
The silliness with ponies seems really tonally out of place here to me, and Diana is creeping me out. She's a pragmatist but not down-right bloodthirsty, which is how she comes across here. Then again everyone is this universe has to be a bit less heroic than their normal counterparts or else the whole plotline would fail.
Well, the Ollie/Harley joking around was the same. She'd just been a participant in possibly the worst crime in human history, but Ollie is happy to joke with her and indulge her? The writers wants this to be the grimmest and darkest Superman story ever... But fun and cuddly?
Let me count on the horns of every unicorn in the universe the good things I have to say about Joss Whedon... I will say, though, I am EXTREMELY happy it is very unlikely he will be involved with a Wonder Woman movie.
Well, it's one thing when the good guys are joking around with each other to help cope with horrific situations. It's a little different when the good guys are joking around with the villains, like Ollie and Harley were doing. Or when the writer starts making the situation into a joke.
No. She's been bulletproof for a while now, around the time tying her up stopped being her kryptonite. The bullet bouncing is a general amazon trick though and they are less likely to be quite that bulletproof.
