Spirou Anniversary!

scans_dailyI see that there are (used to be?) some Spirou fans around here. So I thought I'd make a post to mark the 75th anniversary of Spirou as a character, a comic and a magazine (on April 21):

One of the coolest/weirdest things about Spirou and Fantasio is that most of the time, they work for the Journal de Spirou, the magazine in which their comics are published. Their job is being comic book characters! (As well as reporters, editors, and photographers for the magazine, depending on the story.)
In the 60s, Franquin (the artist on Spirou as well as the spin-off Gaston) and Yvan Delporte (the magazine editor in chief) created a whole fictional version of the magazine offices, like a wacky version of Mad Men:
In one particularly funny story, Bravo les Brothers from 1965, we get to see Spirou and Fantasio at their desk jobs:
(I'd like to do more pages, since the chaos is just about to begin, but I also wanted to get this post out on the actual anniversary and didn't have time to translate/re-text more of them. It's also crossposted to my site, for anyone who has an interest in the series.)
The current Spirou team, Yoann & Vehlmann, also play around with this concept a lot. In the latest adventure, the magazine almost goes bankrupt, and after a takeover, Spirou discovers that he is now owned by a huge multinational corporation! For the anniversary, they made a six-page story, also set at the magazine offices:

After 75 years and some up and downs, Spirou is going strong at the moment. Perhaps 75 more?
