Jason and Roy fight for awhile, with eventually Jason having the upperhand and dominating in the physically battle.

So many mangled characters...

Is that Bronze Tiger, and if so why have they turned one of DC's comparitively few African American martial artist characters into a literal tiger man?

Also his pose makes him look like he's holding a microphone and singing Don't Stop Believing.

He's still black, if I remember right--he just has the ability to turn into a tiger-man, which makes him stronger in the process.

Plus I've always felt that Don't Stop Believing is a good theme song for this book.

It's like the entire DCU has been re-envisioned as a 12 year old's fanfiction.

Funny thing is, most photos of James Tynion do make him look kind of like a twelve year old fanboy trapped in a middle aged man's body. It's the slightly over excited grin that does it.

Not that the 'snappy' writing is doing any favours. YOU CAN HAVE TOO MANY QUIPS, GUYS.

He wore a tiger's mask on occasion, but that was all. He was 100% pure human.

Did Roy stop in the middle of combat to put on a domino?

It's not just the mask, he also loses the hat and gets shaggier hair. Did they change artists between those pages or something? Because that seems like a pretty huge goof.

I was willing to go with "His hat gets knocked off, and the hair he had tucked under it falls out." But putting on a mask seems like a rather odd thing to do in the middle of dodging swords and shooting things.

I think those pages go the other way round. He takes the mask off and gains a hat.

Apparently he picked up a different model radio, too. And may have taken just a few seconds to have his tatoo modified a bit. Because, godammit, you have to have priorities!

I figure all tattoos worn by vigilantes are made with psychically-sensitive ink that reacts to their moods.

But yeah, that's some amazingly quick changes in tech he's got going. Maybe the radio changes configuration when he swaps weapons around. And maybe his domino is implanted under his skin and he can just will it to the surface.

Well, on the positive side, the godawful character designs (why does Jason look like Destro?) almost succeed in drawing attention away from the Liefeldian dialogue.

I predict the DCnU/new "52" is going to go down in history as the "Dork Age" of so many DC characters. So many.

It turns out it was the non-facial scarring kind of acid.

So the Joker's last gasp attack on the Robin he helped create was to give him a chemical skin peel that you'd normally have to pay money for?

Yeah, few people know about the time Joker tried to go straight and open up his own spa. His skin treatment was to die for, but the public refused to see beyond his murderous past and the business never took off. Without cash coming in, he was forced back into a life of crime. It was tragic.

It's not the ones you can see you should be careful of...

It's fine; obviously, he's picked up a bit of Speed Force in his travels, 'cos according to the bottom-left panel on the third scan, he can set them all down in time for HTH combat and then put them back on before his opponent recovers.

Firstly, I'm surprised that Roy can even move with all that strapped to his back.
Secondly, selecting a weapon from that pile would be a nightmare

It's a Roy POV story, so those aren't his actual weapons; they're just what it feels like to him. In reality, he's got one blade, his bow, one large gun and one normal-sized rifle on his back, and a couple of small knives and pistols strapped in other places. One bandolier of bullets. Two grenades, somewhere in the mix. Which is still "lots of weapons."

'Cos I'm not going to accept that anyone, even a Super Weapons Master Dude, carries 3 different swords in the same place, where anyone could grab them.

It's maddening that people think someone *carrying* that many weapons makes them seem more dangerous, or better at what they do.
