Now it has to be said that, with the revamped costume, the quite serious approach to things, and the ninja skills, Tim Drake worked wonders for the reputation of Robin, no more elf shoes or bare legs for one thing...
But let's not kid ourselves
The kid was one SERIOUS geek, and rarely better exemplified than this panel

And off to one side in the Batcave, Alfred is looking at Tim with a raised eyebrow and an expression which silently expresses “You’re just making words up now, aren’t you young man?”
I wonder if this sort of the dialogue should be looked at in the same way as the 1960's Teen Titans, who were written as being terribly "hip" up to the minute teenagers, by people who made you wonder if they had never spoken to a teenager in their life.
