JL8 #148

Yay! Finally! I think this is the longest I've had to wait for the latest page of JL8 by Yale Stewart. 3 days before posting this to his tumblr the artist posted an update explaining his workload.

"I was going to hold off mentioning this until the new strip went up, but I’ve been receiving a lot of e-mails/messages so I figure it’s best to put it out there now:

Due to my workload, I will not be accepting any commissions for the foreseeable future, and most certainly not anything that would possibly be done in time for Christmas."

Next are some pieces Yale worked on that weren't posted in the archive.

What I believe is JL8 Robin's first appearance. As if that isn't the most adorable thing ever, his smile with chipped tooth as opposed to Bruce looking serious and the band aid on his knee, the forms of the shadows on the wall make this photo even more awesome.



This piece is called A Boy and His Toy. Dawwww. Bruce only lets down his guard and has fun when nobody's watching.



This piece is called The Ties That Bind and it shows a lot of characters I'm not as familiar with as probably the rest of you. You can find the coloured version on his blog. I think Bruce is not impressed by Clark's story.





"Obviously, this was inspired by the covers to Batman #608 and Superman #204 by the great Jim Lee."

These are great!

I think that that IS Robin's first appearance in human form, but as you show in the other pic, Robin in JL8 is Bruce's stuffed toy that he talks to and let's his guard down around... much like the real thing in other words...

Ha, I love the girls coming to J'onn's rescue. Nice to see bullies getting their comeuppance. With what's going on in the NFL, once again bullying is a topic on the national stage.

I love how Bruce confides in his Robin toy and allows himself to relax. I do love seeing Robin in human form, though! Adorable illo! :)

Yes, they were no match for these ladies. :) Though I have to admit after #147 I thought there would be a build-up towards #150. ^_^

Ahhh. After so many terrible posts of kid superheroes getting beat down by stupid bullies it's nice to see them actually stand up for themselves. See, it's not hard!
