What is it with replacing blue with red these days?

First Nightwing, now the Fantastic bleeding Four! I dub this condition “Grayson’s Syndrome” (Which is not, as one might imagine, an uncontrollable tendency to be kidnapped and tied up, but a red shift of the colour blue on clothing)

I don't have a problem with a change of colour, but is it because both DC and Marvel discovered that blue ink is much more expensive than red or something?

Sue & Ben's costumes look horrible, yet the only difference Sue's has to Reed & Johnny's is that the red & black are swapped.

Johnny wore a red jumpsuit in the 1970's for a while, and it worked for him because it fit his character. These? Not so much.

I like it. It may just be the similarity to Nightwing, or it may be the fact that the costumes match Johnny's powers (rather than Sue's). I can live with this... lol

I liked the white suits but I could get behind the one on Reed as it reminds me of old school SciFi. Really not liking the red nor the swim trunks on Ben. I always prefer him in pants or a wrestlers leotard. But I'll wait until I see a final on page.

I don't think they look great in general, but I think they look especially bad on the Thing. Orange and red should only go together if they're trying to convey heat/fire.

I've actually gotta disagree with the artist's notes, Reed/Johnny's costumes look better in black and white, but rendered in color I prefer Sue's. It's al least bright and kind of heroic, though still not really very FF, whereas all that black just looks too sullen for the team.

Still pretty disappointed that Fraction is off this title, even if I won't miss the Mark Bagley art.

I LOVE the actual design of the outfits, and different team members having the color scheme reversed kinda shows a bit of personality while still maintaining team identity....but the red is a no from me as well. It works for Johnny, but I think it's too aggressive for the others. I can see Malice in red and black, but not Sue.

I don't think I'd hate it if they all had a different color each though, now that I think about it...

Yeah Sue looked great in the white, Reed could wear blue and Johnny in red.

Ben can wear whatever he wants

I don't mind them changing up the costumes once in a while (especially given that these characters have been in publication for some fifty-odd years now), but this doesn't do that much for me. Frankly, the best FF costume redesign IMO was Byrne's back in the 80s. I didn't care for the white suits at all; they seemed to me to be of a piece with Hickman's writing, a sort of abstract concept devoid of charm.

Like Jonathan Hickman, I barely understand why James Robinson has a comics writing career, let alone why I should care he's writing something I like. Nothing's going to top Matt Fraction's run on either FF title, I'll tell you that.

Well, Robinson's "Starman" was one of the best things to come out of the '90s. Nothing he's done lately really comes close to that, though.
