I don't know how to describe this comic other than that it leaves me smiling every single page. It's about teenagers investigating mysteries. It's adventurous and happy and essentially pure fun in visual form. I don't know how he does it.

Mild spoilers below cut, but nothing big really.

Here's outgoing gal Charlotte, just converted to the delights of drama club, auditioning for Glengarry Glen Ross (reference):

(Naturally she closes the role.)

And here's our heroes, just returned from heroic time-traveling adventures, listening to the definitive rock band, The Beetles:

They were the Beatles, as in they play the Beat, rather than Beetles the insect. Although the artist may have deliberately misspelled it due to switching everything else here.

… Yes.

And I probably find taking the swearing out of Glengarry Glen Ross more funny then I should….

This is definitely one of my favorite webcomics.

Shouldn't they have gotten their MBEs from the king?

I've seen a lot of pages of Bad Machinery, I like the art, the stories look intriguing, and I'm sucker for references to pre-psychedelic sixties England, but I've never been quite sure what was going on in any of them.

I was afraid of this. Guess I'll just have to spend a few hours getting caught up on yet another webcomic.

I've been reading since ScaryGoRound, and when he started throwing in those new Bobbins strips recently I went back and reread that too. I'm sure there are people out there who John Allison's stuff won't appeal to, but I have a hard time imagining them. The very Britishness of it may not click with everyone, I guess? But Bad Machinery and all that came before rakn as some of my favourite webcomics of all time.

(which reminds me - I've only got ScaryGoRound in deadtree, I should wishlist some Bad Machinery)

'Eh, close enough'.
Homer Simpson, Jack O'Neill.

This was a brilliant gag to add at the end of the adventure. I mean it doesn't make sense that the time travel would make that kind of change, but the Bobbins/Scary Go Round/Bad Machinery universe has always been a bit strange (see the Easter Bell of France), so it's entirely possible it's 'always' been that way.

But yes, Bad Machinery is one of the best things.

Also I love that rule 63 Ringo Starr's name is...Ringo Starr.

But mostly I'm happy the mystery boys are back to their dorky selves. And that Grumpaw Calvin got a happy ending.

I was kind of taken aback that this storyline's villains were actually out get the result they ended up with on purpose, 'cause when the heroines meet themin the past for the first time it looks like they weren't expecting what they did to have THOSE kind of conseqences.

Yeah, they pretty much are the poster children for 'disproportionate retribution'.

There's been at least one reference to the "Beatles" (with an 'a') in past strips, so this is definitely a new thing.
