WARLOCK AND THE INFINITY WATCH #13 features a fight between Drax the Destroyer and the Professor Hulk. This is when Drax was child-like (as a result of being resurrected via the Soul Gem) and when the Hulk was smart (either merged Hulk or a brand new alternate personality, depending on who you ask).

Some speculation about the new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movie and its connection to the greater MCU after the cut.

Drax the Destroyer is searching for music. He finds the Hulk.

The Hulk is trying to stop a fight with Drax. He doesn't do it very well.

And then some examples of how news reporting in the Marvel Universe rarely gets it right.

So something of Arthur Douglas is still "there," at least enough to play the saxophone very well. He was restored to full intelligence if a slightly weaker (but superstrong form) some time later.

Regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I'm wondering if the Drax in GOTG will be revealed as Arthur Douglas instead of just a "generic" alien. Drax/Arthur being connected to Earth in some way might mean he has more of a tie to the next Avengers movie. "I might be in a green and red alien body, but I don't want Earth to get destroyed if I can help it."

Will Heather Douglass/Moondragon appear somehow before the big "Avengers vs. Thanos" movie? She's not exactly a popular Avenger, and had this whole "Michael Korvac wasn't really a bad guy" thing I never quite followed.

I kinda miss this version of Drax. The big dumb guy who made the Hulk look like a Rhodes scholar, but hit about five times harder than he did.

Still, he never worked for me as a threat to Thanos.

Yeah, but at least this incarnation of Drax didn't always remember he was supposed to be a threat to Thanos, so it wasn't as embarrassing. The preceding version was fully intelligent and driven by grim vengeance, and Thanos still slapped him down like a bug. And current stabby Drax only accomplished his mission via Thanos basically suiciding onto his plot-device glowy fingers, and then Thanos killed him later anyway.

Drax is fail. But at least the brain-damaged Drax was hilarious sympathetic fail.

The third one, being smart, felt like he was a danger at least.

This one does top grim vengeance ^^

I could be really off-base with this, but I always thought that "dumb" Drax was meant to be sort of an ironic counterpoint to Thanos. Like, Drax is meant to prove that no matter how smart Thanos is, he's still susceptible to someone who's much less intelligent, but physically stronger than himself. It's sort of like "dumb" Drax exists to belie Thanos' assertions that power is all about intelligence, careful planning, etc. I'm not sure how well this ever actually worked in any of the Starlin-era stories, but I think it's an interesting idea: that Drax's single-minded (or mindless) physicality is the one wild card Thanos is unable to deal with or truly account for.

Only originally Thanos was also his physical superior. So while that might work later on, I doubt it was the original intention.

I kinda remember that it was stated somewhere along the way that Mentor didn't actually intent Drax as means for Thanos' defeat - just as an eternal foil, who, while he couldn't stop Thanos, would always keep coming back. Kinda similar to the Lilith/Dracula deal.

Ye gods, Moondragon's outfit looks awful here. It's never exactly been the height of practicality, but...

"What happen to street?"

I love that Drax makes the Hulk feel like everyone else feels when dealing with the Hulk. And I love their brief bonding moment in this issue over how all those puny hu-mans just won't leave them alone.

She's not exactly a popular Avenger, and had this whole "Michael Korvac wasn't really a bad guy" thing I never quite followed.

She actually had a point there because Korvac's plans there were benevolent (The Avengers attacked him, not vice versa, and it's only because his significant other Carina had a moment of doubt about him, that he basically allowed himself to lose and restored the Avengers killed in battle with him to life).

We discovered, via a "What If...?", that if he had succeeded he would have created a universe wide utopia...

His goal was a universal utopia. Eventually he got tired of having to deal with more and more cosmic entities saying "you're mucking with reality" until he used the Ultimate Nullifier to wipe that entire universe.

In the Lego Marvel Superheroes game, one of the side-missions is to find Drax a saxophone. I thought that was just random silliness, I had no idea it was actually based on something from the comics. Neat.

Oh! This is from the first Warlock and the Infinity Watch comic I bought! I've read it a dozen times and the part when Hulk realizes he made a mistake giving Drax a friendly pat on the back always makes me laugh.
