Dark Horse's all-ages FCBD offering this year included a 10-page Avatar: the Last Airbender story by Gene Luen Yang & Faith Erin Hicks. It is amusing and relevant.

Awesome, but yes, depressing that it's still like this, over 25 years after I started collecting comics and had a guy refuse to take my hard-earned pocket money for a copy of Suicide Squad.

1) Awesome, clever, relevant; and, go Suki!!!
2) It's great to have the mythology of the girl hero who can just beat up the misogynists, and I wouldn't want to lose that by any means...
3) But I wish that somehow there could be more than a Might Makes Right conclusion to this, because in the real world, the small, outnumbered woman in that situation isn't going to be able to just beat up the big mean meathead...
4) Meh, it's comics though. I don't really know what I expect.

It is pretty cathartic though. I'm pretty sure anyone who has been through that crap has at least imagined giving the jerks violent beatdowns.

Yeah, maybe so. It felt a bit 'trying to trick you into learning something', but I suppose some people are so wilfully unaware that they *do* need beating over the head with the message.

Okay, so this is a Free Comic Book Day comic. FCBD is a drive to get people who wouldn't normally come into a comic shop to come into a comic shop and check out some free comics, maybe get interested in coming back. A disappointing number of those who do will be treated like this. So how surreal must it be to walk into a comic shop, maybe pick up a comic because you like Avatar, and read exactly what's happening to you at that moment inside? It must be like visiting Destiny and peeking in the big book.

I know what you mean. Most of not all of the comic shops I have been too have been frequented by women.. women were even actively encouraged. My sister got into wonder woman and Rogue from the X-men because of it. Hell most of if not all the shops I've been to have either been owned, Co owned, or ran by girls..... this kind of stuff baffles me. ...
