Dick had returned from Blüdhaven to be with his friends again. He renews his relationship with Barbara and things are going well.
She goes to Bruce.
He tells her that he doesn't want to meddle and that she should tell Dick whatever way she feels is best.
However, a few days later, Bruce tells Dick they need to talk. He tells him that when Dick was gone, he was in relationship with Barbara. Meanwhile, Barbara goes to stop a mugging.
Bruce tells Dick that he wanted him to know before he did anything rash like proposing.

Date: 2014-08-13 07:00 pm (UTC)After all at the time since it was ending the DCAU we were supposed to see Waller as having learned her lesson thanks to Batman. Of course once they decided to revisit the DCAU in comic form all that went out the window as Waller's actions were used to generate plots. Some good, some bad and some just abysmally awful. Though most of them really don't make sense if you look at them too closely.
I mean Cadmus has cloning tech and sophisticated virtual reality tech exist they could have easily grown a clown kid bruce given him a Virtual upbringing identical to the real bruce until his parents died. Then stick him in town some where with a government Alfred and just manipulate his life to make him follow in Batman's foot steps. Then there's no risk of exposure through massive collateral damage. Not to mention since this is a world where well trained folks can easily become capes. Why not just take a good agent and make them Batman.
This whole concept reads as if Waller is disturbed and obsessed with making a "real" Batman she can control which IMO is a disservice to her character.
