A little Monday madness.... DC Superpets!!

A couple of years back I posted a couple of pages from one of the DC Super-Pet's books, just for fun...

And now, thanks to the most wonderfully deranged super-hero affiliated book I've seen in a long time, I'm going to post some more..

First there was the Super-Dictionary, and now thanks to Steve Korté (who wrote the book), and Art Baltazar (Who drew it) there's....

The DC Super Pets Character Encyclopaedia

Starting with the most obvious one (for me at any rate)...



And it's not just Batman who has a Bat-Hound, nor just Robins who have birds



But it's not just the frontline heroes who get their animal companions....



Copper the teacup pig is an adorable idea, but Gumshoe the aardvark is... an eccentric choice

And what the Bat Family have, the Arrow Family have too!





And the Teen Titans get a look in too of course....



Terra having a pet rock seems so obvious! :)

And what other kind of bird would Kid Flash have than...



But it's not just the heroes who have their animal companions... alongside classics like Harley's Hyenas and the Joker's Fish we have lesser known examples, like Lefty, Two-Face's fiddler Crab and these....



And I've saved perhaps the most unexpectedly cute of all for last...



There are over 200 beasties listed.... including such surprises as Robotman’s armadillo Shelly, Ra’s Al Ghul’s immortal camel Sandy, Swamp Thing’s “Down Home Critter Gang” and Blue Beetle’s pet beetle; The Scarabian Knight!

I never knew that Gordon was into exotic animals. I expected a bloodhound, but I guess that was TOO obvious.

On a somewhat unrelated note, seeing Captain Boomerang here reminds me of how badly I want him to show up in the Flash tv show, just to see how many Australian stereotypes the writers are willing to cram into one character.

So *that*'s why Dick switched to the new outfit--he did his own laundry and, unlike Alfred, let the Discowing suit shrink in the dryer! Guess he had to do SOMEthing with it after that... ;)

And since Elvis openly based his style on his favourite comic book character Captain Marvel Jr (Who later returned the favour by developing an Elvis-like hairstyle in more recent iterations) the comic book circle of life continutes...

They both get entries... along with Whizzy... Streaky's 30th century descendent. Superboy gets Fuzzy the Supermouse and Super Squirrel.

Lois gets Scoop the chihuahua, Jimmy gets Freckles the dalmation and Perry gets Gutenberg the German Shepherd.

Believe it or not Deathstroke DOES have a pet listed, a white tiger named Razor; Deathstroke recreated the process that turned him superhuman and applied it to Razer, so whilst he doesn't have nine lives, he's nine times smarter and stronger than a normal tiger!

I suppose Razor might use Thud to sharpen his claws....

Neat, I have a friend who kinda makes this crossover comic series based on animal characters, and I am sure he would enjoy this...

So is Rodney's Wally's pet or Bart's? Cause I really want to see Dox again, or maybe just have him be like Hunter from Road Rovers... everyone remembers that show (as far as I know) but never seem to talk about it...
