I found out recently Disney apparently isn't crazy about Marvel Zombies and made it so Marvel could only sell toys of villains as zombies as opposed to the heroes.
I don't blame them. The stories might have some merits, but otherwise it's just a cheap gimmick, especially the way Marvel started milking classic covers, only zombified.
I really can't wrap my head around the idea that there was ever a time when Marvel was trying to redefine itself tonally and artistically and decided that Greg Land was the man for the job. I mean, those interiors do look like he gave more a shit than his recent stuff, but that cover is a timeless kind of hideous.
I do actually like this fakeout, it's a fun turn on the pretty hack-y premise of an Ultimate/616 crossover.
So, do they ever explain how Zomb-Reed pulled off the con? I'm guessing holograms or something to make him look normal. What about Franklin, though? Was he real somehow, fake, or zombied?
I'd guess if you can make a hologram of yourself, it's just as easy to make it of a non-infected version of you and add your now-dead kid for reasurance. (I don't specifically recall if Franklin's death was mentioned, but he'd have to have died early to prevent him from undoing the zombie apocalypse before it got any traction.)
