Considering that Daredevil is pulling exactly the same plot twist as that last panel - to a much more effective, unsettling degree without the "oh by the by, here's this feud ex Machina because apparently being rich means being magic" element...and considering that even with his earlier guest spot in this book, Daredevil's entire series couldn't be taking place with a rich super-arsehole spying on everyone...

Yeah, I can only conclude in my personal head canon that none of this book is actually happening. Daredevil's continuity being uninterrupted is worth more to me, since it's an objectively better comic.

Let's say this entire storyline is a concussion-induced dream Tony's having after being knocked unconscious mid-battle with, I dunno, let's say the Wrecking Crew (they could use a boost). He'll wake up in a few issues, all "and you were there, and you, and you, and you should go get me a coffee, black, two sugars."

Or maybe he's floating in a vat, heavily concussed following this 'inversion' stuff, and Arno is watching his coma dreams on a video-screen and trying to use it to guide him back to his real self, while occasionally murmuring "The fuck is he? The fuck is she? The hell is all this about?"

Points for not going with the answer to " Who's the father? " that's seemingly obvious.

It's kind of heartwarming to see that Tony, even as an evil Inverted jackass, still has a soft spot for the people he cared about like Happy.

I'm a little amused that he cares so little what the kid thinks that he doesn't bother to lie about having lied to him. "Oh, help you? Yeah, I was just gonna rip you open and make money off of it. Still gonna do that, but now I'll actually help, too."

Well, it is Tony Stark. Even before he was Inverted he was never the kind of guy who cared too much about what other people think.

Haha wow. When the Inversion wears off Stark is going to have no wear a dunce cap and cardboard sign around his neck with the words "I'M SORRY" on them for the rest of his days.

you need a certain kind of ego to have the watcher show you "if you had done this ONE SMALL THING different, everyone would have been happy. no side-effects, no crisis that would come from this. no massive and contrived end of the world. happy ending. you just had to do ONE thing and all this mess would have been avoided" and still say "i would have done everything the exact same"

Naw!

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an apology from Tony Stark since he hasn't coughed up one for Civil War yet.

Isn't "paternal" father and "maternal" mother kinda redundant? I thought they were only used one more generation distant.

well, Mystique is theorically capable of impregnating someone... "paternal Mother" is actually not outside the realm of possibilities here...

She gets fully functioning reproductive organs when she does that? Her hormones change and she's able to produce semen and stuff? Was Mystique the first transgender character in Marvel?

yes, yes and i think no because she keeps identifying herself with her birth gender and transform into her birth gender most of the time.

Kind of specific case. So unless Tony's DNA-analysis made him suspect that either Happy or the mother was Mystique, or Loki, then it just doesn't apply here.

or any other shapeshifter/magic-user/parallel universe counterpart that there could be. In fact, i am sure there would be spells that would make Happy the maternal father...hell, i think Tony probably invented something that would make Happy pregnant.

but it COULD apply, and as such, the option has to be considered. he did not know who the father or mother was and the machine was designed to detect them.

I liked this issue. Surprisingly, I like Jamie. It was pretty cool that his origin was weaved with a very old IM story and status quo and the ending was just as intriguing as the end to the first issue. I'm back to interested.

Awww, damn. I actually liked the scene that was posted before from past issues, where he was a rude jerkass but actually seemed willing to help a kid in need. Tony was walking the fine line between charming and asshole that can make a character so interesting and entertaining. But here, with the reveal that he would have murdered the kid if he hadn't been Happy's son, he has definitely shed the "charming" part and gone well into "asshole" :(

Is there a reason that the son of a long dead Iron Man character has the name of a former Hulk villain, the sort-of-appearance of a former Hulk villain and the necessity to be angry to trigger their transformation of a Hulk?

Yes. This issue contains the boy's origin. Stark Industries (or whatever it was called back then) was doing experiments with gamma radiation, which we all know lead to hulk beings.

Alcatraz is Paradise? Really?

Who the heck at Marvel thinks living on Alcatraz is a good idea? It was turned into a prison for a reason; it's really awful! It's a scrubby, windy rock surrounded by freezing water. Not even the x-men's remodeling job could make it a nice place to live. And speaking of X-Men, what happened to the New Mutants? Aren't they still living in San Fran? I'm sure Cypher and Warlock are and if so, why haven't the hacked Tony's toys and turned them on him? I'm sure that would be pretty much a cake walk for them.

Actually, Cypher and Warlock are in Virginia with X-Factor. The New Mutants disbanded years ago and none of them are there either.
