ALL-NEW X-MEN #40 started a question about telepathic ethics, and whether Jean Grey has them or not. That got me thinking of the first "X-Men and Starjammers vs. the Imperial Guard" story, which was reprinted in CLASSIC X-MEN #14 and 15.
This still has the original Dave Cockrum artwork.

Phoenix is a bit suspicious of an American showing up so far from Earth.

I wonder where this mindscan of Corsair falls on the "telepathic ethics" scale. Maybe it is like lifting someone's wallet, but just to check their ID. Nowhere near as iffy as "reading someone's mind to see if he is gay and then confronting him with it in public."
Next issue, the X-Men and the Starjammers enter the M'Krann Crystal to SAVE THE UNIVERSE. (verse, verse, verse...)

The original John Byrne artwork (top half) has the 1987 addition of Chuck Patton (bottom half).

I am not crying. You are the one who is crying.
