In the last issue, Dr. Hormone successfully bumbled through a secret air mission which hormonally transformed the invading Urasian army into loyal Novoslavian citizens. But the war isn't over yet.

Another public domain story (courtesy of ComicBookPlus.com) from Popular Comics #56 (Oct. 1940).

Yes, the Uras--oh, pardon me, apparently they're Eurasians once again--still have an ace up their sleeve: the Novoslavian traitor Rassin--whoops, looks like everyone just calls him Assinoff now.

Well, at least the massive violation of human beings' bodily integrity and personhood (which they continue, bafflingly, to take in stride) wasn't directly Dr. Hormone's fault this time.

Next: showdown with Eurasia! (Assuming the writer can keep the spelling consistent.)

Jeez, I would say this is getting ridiculous, but that would imply it was it some point not ridiculous.

I like how the bad guy's evil plan is closer to classic comic book super villainy, while the hero's actions are more like fucked up dystopia shit.

I think the writer and artists are under the influence of something a tad stronger than hormones....

A couple of things

1. Those are some dedicated soldiers. "We've turned into beastmen? Great! Now we can bomb the crap out of our enemies even better!"

2. Assinoff is able to escape the angry mob using his 'bestial strength'... after he's turned the majority of the people there into animals as well... anyone else see an issue with this?

3. That talking horse is just yukking it up, isn't he? He probably thinks this is all some massive drug trip he's on. Which honestly would explain a lot about the plot.

I have more of a problem with "These hormones have increased my physical abilities and given me bestial strength, so I'm going to give them to a large number of people in the country I'm fighting a war against."

This is just body horror disguised as innocent pulp comics.

So a black comedy take on Dr. Moreau? The original premise of Dr. Moreau really is Dr. Hormone, with the whole surgery thing mainly to affect the glands and stuff of the animals.

The Novoslavians are extra-weirdly cheerful about being mutated, considering that a) most of their loved ones are dying slowly from plague while vultures descend to eat their eyeballs and b) the antidote they thought they were receiving isn't actually an antidote. Not really the time for kangaroo jokes, you know?

Wait, did anyone get a genuine antidote? Or is everyone in the comic dying at this point?

Love that horse! So modest, needing a horse blanket. And six bits is all he charges? For a ride by a Derby winner? Tsk, tsk!
