It's pretty clear Star-Lord didn't murder him. When he tries to use the Gun, it backfires and kills him. Star-Lord also indicates he didn't know that would happen. They're both pretty chill about it, but still, he's not responsible for it.
Meh, I dunno. The guy killed himself, really. His murderous intent was redirected towards himself by his ignorance. Don't think it's fair to say starlord is culpable for not telling him about the flaw in his plan to murder somebody.
Eh, it was a Slott development. The track record for those is usually that other, better writers will ignore them, completely reinvent them until they're good ideas, or outright mock them.
